Hubby and I were celebrating our honeymoon in Victoria and decided to check out Little Jumbo. It was a really nice atmosphere. The food was quite tasty.. the drinks were strong! Service was pretty good, although the bartender was quite busy so wasn’t able to give us much attention. When we were finished and wanted to pay for our bill, he was nowhere in sight so we flagged down another waitress to cash us out. Overall I would recommend checking it out. Apparently the menu changes weekly so you likely won’t be able to try the same things we did. The scallop pasta was delicious, slightly small portion and a little bit pricy.

We had the best time at Little Jumbo! We went the first night for cocktails and second night for dinner. Both were incredible!!! Love that the menu changes often - the atmosphere, drinks and food were top notch! We can’t wait to come back to Victoria and visit this cute spot again. ☺️

I love Little Jumbo. It's a must visit for me every time I come to Victoria from Nelson BC. Recently I visited for cocktails with my lovely lady and we sat at the bar. Our bartender Daisy made us some wonderful cocktails. She was very service oriented and genuine. I hope she's here next time we visit! Great experience with Daisy behind the bar!

Literally had the best restaurant experience I have ever had……absolutely outstanding cocktails. Food was amazing. Service was impeccable. Visiting from Vancouver and will be back as soon as we can. Patrick was our bartender and everything he tended to was phenomenal. These garbage reviews from humans who are mad about wait times in an understaffed tiny restaurant can find service elsewhere. Good on the team and keep up the amazing work. Thank you for having us and the amazing service!

Posting a bit late as we'd visited earlier this month, but the food is still just as delicious! The burger continues to be the favourite along with the truffle fries, but I decided to be spontaneous and try something other than the mussels for myself. The risotto was amazing and I loved the cute presentation! It was also the first time ordering a cocktail, and (as you can imagine from the picture) it was so refreshing! Can't wait to come back and try another dish - they always sound so interesting and taste so good :)

This place is so beautiful and atmospheric on the inside, and the staff are lovely! I really wanted to like the food more than I did, but it all seemed very overpriced for what you get. The burger was okay but quite dry, and the mussels were average but $8 more than a place that makes them better and provides more. The drinks were unique and carefully designed, but also quite expensive (20-28$). I appreciate the creativity behind them that might necessitate a higher price, but the taste of the 4 we had weren't worth the price tag. I would like to go again when the menu changes a bit, but I have reservations that pricing is too high.

Stopped in to have a coffee in the new Cafe Jumbo this morning and loved it. The space has been completely updated and while fresh hasn't lost any of its charm. My Americano was perfect - piping hot and strong. The breakfast sandwich was big and made fresh on focaccia bread loaded with yummy fillings. I will be back!

Thank you for the amazing service! Little Jumbo is a very cool spot to visit and I can't wait to be back. Hands down the best restaurant I've been to in Victoria. Daisy was our bartender and she made perfect recommendations for us. The food and cocktails were insanely good. Wish there was a Little Jumbo in Vancouver! I'm still thinking about those truffle fries. YUM.

Made a reservation here, noting that if we were to cancel with less than 24 hours we would be charged $25 per person (which seems a little steep!) So when there was a huge snowfall we still trekked our way downtown for what we hoped would be a nice night out only to find that the restaurant was closed. There had been no notification, or even updates on their social media. I messaged them hoping for an explanation but never heard back. Based on other comments on their social media posts, this has happened to a lot of people recently. I understand that it's possible there was an emergency, but not even responding to a message or acknowledging this mistake has put me off returning. EDIT BASED ON RESPONSE: Thank you for responding to the review and providing an explanation of what happened. I appreciate that this must have been very challenging and stressful for you and your staff. Some things I do feel the need to respond to though: 1. Your booking website says guests will be charged $25/person for cancelling within 24 hours. If that isn't the case I suggest you update it as it is currently misleading. 2. I didn't receive a voicemail. 3. A piece of paper on the door as an explanation or even an update on your social media when it happened would have helped guests like me understand the situation. 4. Unfortunately I only received an explanation and response once I had created this 1 Star Review, despite having direct messaged you on Facebook the evening this happened. While the event itself was somewhat frustrating (although explainable), the lack of explanation and follow-up was more so. I'm not a business-owner and recognize it must be incredibly difficult. I'm not here to try to ruin your business, I was just frustrated by a lack of explanation and response. I'm changing my 1 Star to 4 Stars and wish you luck in the future.

Food was fine, but I expected more. Mains were your choice of fish or beef as the pasta contained sardines. A sign of limited choices when the large table next to you all orders the same thing. We ordered pasta and mussels and both were great, even with a lot of garlic. Great ambiance and friendly staff.

Visiting Victoria with Sister & Niece. Called to reserve for three. Ate at bar. Daisy working the bar made the night along with mixing great drinks. We are our way through Appi menu, splitting three ways. Attentive, accommodating and friendly. Meals inexpensive and delicious. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended. Next time I m in Victoria will surely stop in.

The place is kind of tucked inside so it feels like a little hidden gem. The host is very personable. The pendant lights, warm tones, and wine glasses gives very welcoming and romantic vibes. Our server is prompt and respectful. Had to wait a while for the food but totally worth it. The plating is impeccable art. We eat with our eyes first, right?? The first bite.... chef’s kiss. Best part is finishing the whole plate feeling satisfied, not bloated or wanting for more. Perfect portion. I thoroughly enjoyed my first time here and will be back again.

I've been to this bar a few times before writing this review. The staff are always really nice and attentive. The vibe is moody lighting, hiphop tracks, PNW, wooden panelling, cozy, unpretentious. The bartender has a deep knowledge of their craft. The cocktail menu rotates often so if you're into trying something unique pick from there, or you can ask for a drink that suits your preferences specifically. I'd recommend trying the fried brie. It's delicious: crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, paired with pickled veggies, sweet butter and jam. There's almost always a line so make a reservation.

Even during COVID, Little Jumbo shines. Stopped by for late night drinks with a few visiting friends. Really appreciated the server checking in often despite our party not being ready to order. Was able to accommodate our off-menu cocktail requests and delivered tasty drinks. Shout out to Lauren! You were a spectacular server!

Best cocktail bar in town! I'm tired of other places using cheap alcohol and not knowing how to make simple drinks well. This place is next level, great selection, be sure to ask the bartender for something special since they're full of surprises ;)

Beautiful environment. Our server on Sunday was just lovely. Very wine knowledgable. Relatable and gave some fabulous recommendations. Our meal was succulent. Petite but so well prepared that we took the time to slow down and enjoyed every bite. The fish was absolute perfection. Cannot wait to go again on the future.

A nice kinda hidden cozy place only in a couple of tables, we got one of the booths otherwise It would have been a less enjoyable experience because we would have ended up side by side other people and it’s just not a good set up if you wanna have a more intimate experience!The lighting and decor are pretty well done though. The pasta was good, had some interesting flavours, burger was also good, specially the sauce on it , the scallops and pickled beats on the other hand I wouldn’t even bother, absolutely nothing special about that starter. The fries were just ok, the drinks were just good but the service was amazing, to be honest it’s a bit overpriced! Would I go back? Probably just to sit at the bar for a couple of drinks and that’s it to be honest!

Had a fantastic night at Little Jumbo last night. Sat at the bar and had the 2 bartenders Ryan and forget the other guys name help us out. They were both exceptional and were wizards behind the bar making drinks. Overall was an awesome experience and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a delicious meal and some top notch cocktails!

We love Little Jumbo and have been three times now. We love the atmosphere and the service, always loved those things. We love the cocktails and always enjoy the varied options, we also have always loved our starters that we have ordered, especially the panko fried brie and bread (AMAZING!). But every main we have had (crab risotto, Seared cod, and the burger) have all been very average. They are cooked perfectly and ingredients are of the highest quality but they are seriously lacking in flavour for something so expensive.

We put our names down for dinner (notified by text) and waited an hour so it is highly recommended you make a reservation. This place is known for its array of cocktails. We ordered a "in yo face" cocktail, which had a delicate floral taste. The mussels were served in a light tomato broth; so delicious. I also really enjoyed the beet salad. The customer service was exceptional. Sebastian was very enthusiastic about his cocktail knowledge and made sure we were well looked after. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Little Jumbo has been a favorite spot since we first had a chance to go a few years ago. The menu isn't extensive but what's there is excellent. They have great drinks with awesome bartenders and the staff in general is super friendly and helpful. New phased in requirements have them at time of writing checking temps for staff and guests, hand sanitizer prior to entering and some staff wear masks depending on role and proximity. Less seating provides the necessary distance and while it's a bit odd at first it's a comfortable dining experience overall. It's a great spot either way so make sure to check it out and if you're on the fence about heading out to dine safely they have it pretty well sorted already which is great.

Stepped in for a cheeky couple of cocktails on a Thursday night and was greeted by the lovely Patrick who offered us a comfortable seat and immediate hydration. We enjoyed 4 cocktails, which were beautifully presented and crafted. Each was multifaceted in their approach to flavour and aroma with lovely details like perfectly clear branded king cubes. Both the bartender and the server were passionate and excited about their service and the products they were purveying. Definitely a feather in the cap of Victoria's cocktail circuit. We will be returning to eat and drink with these wonderful people! Thanks, Little Jumbo.

I visited Little Jumbo with my spouse a few weeks ago while in Victoria and we could not have been more impressed. The food was amazing but my favourite part was the cocktails. I love creative cocktails and often will pick a restaurant based on the cocktail menu. This place did not disappoint! They mentioned they change the cocktail menu frequently so I am already planning a return visit to Victoria. The service was also great. The host outside was very friendly, and our server Taylor did an amazing job. They are also following strict Covid protocols which we appreciated.

My 13 y/o and I went for a celebratory dinner. The safety procedures were very good and non intrusive. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly. I had the drink and meal that were the shortage for the night and they were both fantastic. The server did a great job explaining both- including an old technique for producing the beverage. The kids had the flank steak and said it was one of the best steaks he'd ever had. The bartender also made him a special drink served in a champagne flute. The kids loved the drink- it was marvelous. And he genuinely appreciate the cassette that went into creating him something to celebrate with. I prefer a leisurely meal and this is definitely the spot for it. We were given time to enjoy our dunks before ordering and the pacing of the food was on point. The server was very engaged but have us or space. This is definitely some of the best service I've had in years.

I have dairy and gluten allergies, they were very accommodating. My new fav dinner spot when I’m in Victoria. Recommend booking a table, or you’re likely to not get in.

Beautiful small space. Love the decor and style. Perfect date night spot! Very flavorful food. The service staff were all friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed my cocktail with oaked gin called The Sputnik Sweetheart. Only thing was tje dish was a bit dry and my pasta was lukewarm...but it was so tasty I didn't stop and just ate it anyways. Overall a good dining experience. Definitely would dine here again.

The Good: the food was delicious and the service was prompt and charming with great wine recommendations. The Bad: we had eaten here before and returned for a special birthday treat. We reserved more than a week in advance and "birthday" was mentioned on the reservation. On arrival at restaurant at the appropriate time we were told that they were "very busy" and we could only have our table for 90 mins. No apology, no drink on the house as compensation. We felt rushed and didn't wait to be moved on. We were back out on the street after 1hr 15mins. Not the best venue for a special celebration.

First you start with the walk in which is through a gorgeous renovated vintage entrance. The place is small but delivers on ambiance. I was happy to find mezcal behind the bar. They only had one choice, but chose very well. It was a very pleasant straight up sip. We had the halibut which was cooked to perfection, it came with green beans and house made gnocchi. The beans were cooked to perfection as well. The gnocchi was on the large side but absolutely delicious. We also ordered the "tongue & cheek", I was pleasantly surprised.I find a great way to test a place is, on a dish like this. If you offer something along the lines of offal, and you knock it out then you have found a good spot. We finished with the something shaft dessert and the shaft drink. The dessert was delicious dark chocolate, sponge toffee and whipped cream. My only complaint would be the the choco was served too cold. It got better as it warmed up. Their restrooms are pristine and just as nice as the rest of the place. They also use linens instead of paper towel. The staff clean things very well in between turn over every single time. Over all I have to say the best meal had in Victoria. The music was great, the atmosphere was great. This is a must while you are here!

A must try if you're in Victoria area. Not that hard to find through a hallway at the back of the building. The bar is on the right hand side with plenty of mixes and a very friendly bartender. The food was definitely interesting. I had the beet carpaccio which had beets three different ways. Also had the local oysters made with homemade horseradish and a kiwi sauce, which was delicious. The smoked duck confit was delicious as well as the 'kitchen sink' drink with smoked Mezcal.

Great little diner/bar. It's pretty cool that it is so well hidden. I never knew this little gem existed. A friend recommended it to me for the best burger he had ever had. I first took my son, and discovered the best burger ever, then my daughter a few weeks later. It was a great treat to be here. The service was great, and they were very good about special diets. The food came hot, and the service was so friendly. Great place to have food and good conversation. It's not to loud, and yet feels private enough even with the closer layout of the tables.

Amazing! I had the beef tartar for a starter (great for sharing) its full of umami. For my main I went with the ling cod so juicy and bursting with flavor the croquettes added some body and crunch to the dish. Highly recommend! Server was super friendly and knowledgeable of all the dishes very detailed in her explanations of the food and drinks.

this place is a hidden gem. really trendy vibe without feeling too bougie. impressive and creative menu and cocktails. my dish was too salty and I almost never say that as I love salt. service was ok. they were busy. I got the frozen lemon souffle for dessert. the sponge toffee was too hard or too big... was difficult to eat. everything else was just amazing.

Really nice cocktail bar. Sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender. He made custom drinks for me and some friends. All the drinks were well balanced and delicious. I didn't have food but a buddy had the burger and said it was excellent.I recommend going in and trying it!

Wow. This place rocks. Small, hole in the wall vibe. The food was so good. The clams with chorizo were amazing. We got so excited, we didn't get a picture. The crusted, seared Albacore was a huge portion of sushi grade tuna with a great sear leaving a raw center with strawberries and a salsa. Awesome. My duck breast with gnocchi and a bbq sauce was really good, too. Drinks and wine selection were great. Service was great. A must do in Victoria.

Incredible cocktails, and the food is second to none. Any fish they have on their seasonal menu is always impeccably cooked, and accompanied by some sort of delicious sauce and side. The frites are to die for, and the creativity of the bartenders is amazing to see. Every time I eat here I’m blown away by the service and ambiance. The best in town in my opinion!

From the host who spoke with me about accommodating our vegan needs a month before our reso, to the mixologist behind the bar pumping out whatever your smokey heart desires to the amazing kitchen staff that completely made us feel so at home even considering our vegan dietary restrictions. Off menu delights and instant longterm memories made. What an amazing restaurant! So impressive and we will be back soon, with friends :)

One of the best restaurants and cocktail bars I've ever been to! The cocktails are dangerously good, really next level taste and just beautiful to look at. The food was amazing! My burger was delicious and the truffle fries were really something special. The kale in my date's salad was grilled and had this smoky flavor to it, really inspired and so tasty! The staff were so kind and inviting and went out of their way to make our experience one to remember. Couldn't have asked for anything better, instant favourite!

Their food is delicious, but their drinks are even better. Their cocktails are complex and well thought out. I had the Mole Mole, which was spicy and smoky. Definitely a sipper but I would definitely get it again! I love how their drink menu changes up a bit every so often so you get to try new creations.
