curry hut indian bistro's Reviews and comments
This was the first time I had been to this new restaurant. The previous restaurant in the exact location was a hangout joint for my friends and me.
We went for lunch, and it was pleasant lunch. The prices were excellent. Manu was short and lunch focussed. I personally like that. All the dishes were under $14. Portions are huge. I was with my friend, and we both couldn’t finish our plates. I liked the taste, and it wasn’t too oily or heavy.
The only downside I saw was service. I think they should train their staff more. This is not a complaint more like a suggestion.
I would defiantly go back, and I would like to recommend this restaurant to you as well!
Came here awhile back before it was changed, I liked my dish and their side bacon was perfectly cooked. However, my friend didn’t like their dish as much. It was a cute place, decent food, but just not enough to have me dying to go back. But I would say its a decent place to go if your in the area but not worth driving to from far away
It's an absolute star. Scoozis is a cozy Resturant with tasty meals, fresh drinks , reasonable price and top of all of that, friendly staff that care a lot. Definitely, I will go there again.
Loved the atmosphere and of course the food from here!! It's really nice to sit with all of those plants they have, especially when everything else you can see is concrete.
The food was beautiful and delicious and also really great that you can get breakfast all day. Definitely gonna be coming back here on my next trip over.
Very down to earth staff and caring. The food made by them is really great. Love to have great food again from same staff. God bless you...
Scoozis truly is a hidden gem. I had the minestrone soup with spanakopita and it was absolutely out of this world. The most authentic Greek experience I've had in a while!
It was excellent. Nice staff and fast service. The portions are perfect, I had the French toast.
Love their breakfast. Cozy atmosphere and impeccable service. Highly recommend.
Love the deep dishes and the servers are always smiling and very helpful even though there was a lunch hour rush. The food was exquisite and tasted very nice. Huge portion size, my sister and I shared a deep dish and still ended up taking some home.
Amazing food. I have tried many Indian restaurants in Downtown and I have to say this is top of my list now. The flavour of their foods are so delicious and tasty that reminded me of authentic taste of Indian food. Highly recommend this place!
My new favorite restaurant in Vancouver. I only had the breakfast there but OMG was it amazing. Had one of the deep dishes. Highly recommended. Soooo flavorful!! And I love the place itself. Family run. Pictures of all the family all over the walls. Fast friendly service. Had a great vibe there. I will be back to try the dinner menu!!
I love this place Service is excellent. I tried the seafood deep dish was so delicious 🤤. Also their Italian roast coffee. I highly recommend you try one of their deep dish.
First time in this restaurant and the food was just great! Overall friendly staff, which provided fast and excellent service. Staff are also very accommodating to special requests!
This Curry place is amazing and EXTREMELY reasonably priced. Best palak paneer, and home made fermented yogurt ( those who don’t know fermented yoghurt is healthiest thing you can have, unusual for a restaurant to have ) . People are down to earth , soft spoken and welcoming. Cook Prakash Personally came to take feedback. Best place in downtown to eat!!!! Yogesh and Neelu
The deep dishes were very tasty and delicious. The smoked Salmon and Shrimps one is a must to try. The owner made it a very positive and memorable experience. Will certainly come here again!
Great breakie place at Scoozis Bar & Grill downtown Vancouver. They say have a good breakfast to start the day right. This is definitely a great way to start your day. Large selection, generous portions, delicious, excellent service and fairly priced. During COVID, dine local, take out and support your local restaurant.
Fantastic eggs benedict and they accommodated any requests I had. Staff are so friendly and authentic. My food was served so quickly too. Seems like a genuine family run place and they appreciate every customer. Try it. You won't regret it.
We ordered food here, it was very delicious!! If you are in downtown or wants to eat Indian food I highly recommend this place!
Such best place I have ever been even though it’s new but it still taste so familiar and delicious I love the food here really the best food
Scoozis is a vancouver institution. As I like to say, it is a great Secret in Vancouver known only to a couple hundred thousand people. I learned at lunch today that Michael the owner had died earlier this year which is a great tragedy. When could always be lift it up by being greeted by him at the door upon arriving at the restaurant. The food is spectacular. The service is even better. The room is intriguing because it twists and turns and you can find a table or it's possible to have a reasonable conversation without too much noise. I can't say enough about this place. A true gem.
Amazing little find while visiting Vancouver. Great food and LOTS of it for a great price. Cozy, homey environment. Nice Greek people.
Tasty food and great service 👍
Amazing service! Great service!/cozy atmosphere! Definatly will have again. They have a separate breakfast and lunch menu with a lot of options . Portions are really big. Known for the lasange, “deep dishes and soups”
Reasonably priced too.
Amazing.
Service, food and speed are all top notch.
The eggs Benedict was amazing.
The highlight of it all was the fruit cup. It had dragon fruit, passion fruit, blackberries, strawberry and pineapple. Nary a spec of cantaloupe or honeydew.
When we were done, they brought us a nice little mini dessert.
When you walk in your greeted in a very warm and welcoming way. The service is quick and the food is good. I ordered the Florentine Benedict minus the tomato. After breakfast they served a complimentary dessert.
"Whether getting out of the weather, cold, hot, raining or snowing...Scoozis Is The Place! Quaint, cozy, and warm (or ambient), you will find yourself at home. The Owner himself will greet you as he meticulously maintains the efficiency of this fine establishment. Enjoy, Salute!!!"
Order big breakfast and it was very good. The eggs were good, the bacon some were crispy some were soft and the potatoes were not my favourite.
The banana bread was great. First time that I’ve had toasted banana bread.
The waitress was very friendly lay and patient.
Oh my yum!!! If you’re ever in #vancouver and looking for a ridiculously awesome breakfast, you have to check out Scoozis. The vegetarian breakfast deep dish is what brought me in and the complimentary bite of apple strudel at the end was the perfect finishing touch!
What an exquisite experience yesterday! This place used to be a brunch place and now an Indian restaurant Is my guess. We happened to pass by on our way to Hydra Estiatorio for lunch as the lady outside this restaurant handed us a flyer and we decided to stop by for dinner. So glad we did as this will be our favorite Indian restaurant every time we are visiting Vancouver from Seattle.
When the thoughtfully and traditionally rightly made food arrived we were pleasantly surprised. Most restaurants serve various dishes that do not have much character but here all flavors were robust, authentic, right quantity and priced way below than what I would have happily paid.
The Cholay baturay, their combos where you pick what goes in your combo, gulab jamoon and ras malai were truly delightful. I hope this quality stays. I am guessing it will because as we gushed our appreciation of the food, the owner was very happy to chat with us. We found out he is also a chef trained at Club Mahindra( Munnar), Hilton etc who is just starting out with his own venture in downtown Vancouver. I will be telling my friends in Seattle to look up the place when they are visiting. Whoever lives in the area you are lucky if you are craving Indian food! Writing this review as a thank you to the hospitality and great food we received at this place.
Charming and personal!! Wonderful staff and exceptionally tasty dishes...Michael the owner is a restaurant legend from the 70’s who pride shows in all that is offered🥂🍾
Excellent Indian food in downtown, experienced well trained chefs serving high quality, good food at an excellent price. For the original taste, don’t skimp on the spice level. Wide selection of items but chicken tikka masala, karahi chicken and vindaloo lamb are excellent. Their lentils(Daal) dish are an excellent accompaniment. And in sweets, try the ras-malai or gulab-jamun, traditional Indian sweets that are perfectly prepared or if in mood for some ice-cream with Indian flair, try the faluda. Highly recommend this restaurant for their food, great service and excellent hospitality from the owners & staff.
Awesome as always. A bit retro in a good way, like coming back to the heydays of the former VSE. Freebie desert was a surprise extra, recognizing me for having also dropped in a week earlier.
Amazing food and amazing service! French toast and Benny's were amazing! Very friendly staff and quick service!
Whenever my sister and I visit from out of town we always make a stop at Scoozis for breakfast. Their rice pudding has delivered year after year and it is one of our favourite places to go near the convention centre. If you try out the eggs Benedict be sure to have it on a croissant! Absolutely fabulous.
Best Breakfast! This was the best breakfast I have experienced since coming to Vancouver. I went with a friend and we were courteously greeted at the door and seen to a beautiful seating by the window. I ordered a mimosa, smoked salmon that she recommended I have on the croissant! Amazing recommendation as it was delishous. I was blown away by the service, the feel of that restaurant and the decor was top notch to match.
I will recommend this to anyone going for breakfast in the city!
Great little place for breakfast
One of the best tasting breakfast I've had. The staff the owner are really friendly. When we go back over to Canada we will be going again. Highly recommend.
The food and the waitress was amazing the only thing I didn’t like a little bit was the old fashion restaurant but it reminded me of my visit to Europe.
From the minute you arrive, you will be greeted with the warmest smile and they’ll seat you ASAP! It’s a cute spot with amazing service, delicious breakfast, the owner is fantastic and super personable, the staff are efficient, the prices are great, the proportions are big, and you won’t be disappointed at all!!
Definitely a staple for every visit to Vancouver!
Came back for another delicious meal!! Now we need to try the whole menu.
First visit review -Delicious breakfast and drinks. The deep dish omelet was amazing. I love that the owner greeted us. We will be back!
the salmon benedicts are amazing!! great service too. highly recommend
Portions are generous and very tasty, staff are warm and welcoming.
Great food, cozy atmosphere, and excellent service with lovely staff.
Amazing food and excellent customer service 👌
Best brunch place in Vancity
Scoozis' the best breakfast place we've tried here in Vancouver...staffs' are very warm and welcoming...the Eggs Benedict and it's hollandaise sauce is somethingto die for...wish we could take it back to Toronto 😊
What a find! We stumbled on this place in search for breakfast and we both felt like we hit the lottery. The establishment seems like it is very well run. We were greeted immediately when we walked in the door and we're tipped to the famous hollandaise sauce. I was not disappointed! If not the best, top 3 I've ever had. Everything was tasty! Nice variety of fruit! Good flavors! And exceptional service, very professional. *update- they brought us a treat before we left.. Exceptional people here. Thank you.
Scoozis is a great choice for breakfast! We were up early and happened to find Scoozis open. We had the Eggs Benedict and French Toast. Both were really good! It was moderately priced. We spent close to $50 on breakfast They also have a variety of coffee options, which we enjoyed. I would recommend Scoozis.
Amazing atmosphere, we loved it
Ate breakfast here twice with friends. Great vegetarian options. I loved how they accomodated a large group and had no problem splitting the bill.
If I ever visit Vancouver again- I want to go back to Scoozis.
My seafood deep dish was absolutely delicious! I’d come back just for that. Service is also great!
Found this place while wandering downtown. The food was so yummy and comforting, it’s the plate of food you want when you go out for breakfast but you can never quite find the place to get it. It has a really “homey” feel to it, staff are wonderful and even chased me down the street when I forgot my bag inside.
Never fails, always an amazing experience. The owner Michael is absolutely fantastic and will always greet you and even remember your name. Food is fabulous and the service is top notch. With out a doubt best place I've ever been and it's why I always come back. Thank you again and again.
Awesome eatery for all meals! Quaint ambience, superb service (thanks Sonja) and delicious food with a homemade bakery. Returning tomorrow for breakfast again.. had the smoked salmon benedict which was super tasty!
Food was amazing
Great food, great service. I ordered the Eggs Benedict on a croissant instead of the traditional english muffin. It was so good that it pained me when I couldn't physically finish the last bite. The plate came with a nice variety of fresh fruit - not your usual soggy cantaloupe and honey dew. The hollandaise was on point and the potatoes were cooked to perfection. I also indulged in a bit of dessert (after breakfast dessert, yes.) and that was just as delicious as the meal. Everyone working in the restaurant took time to smile and say hello to us and were exceptionally friendly and hospitable.
Cosy, friendly and excellent food from a family owned restaurant. It’s much bigger inside than it looks and spacious enough to not feel crowded even when busy. Could not recommend it enough.
I have been here twice and I have had somewhat mixed experiences. I would definitely recommend coming here for breakfast because the service I had was phenomenal. The server was friendly and quick and even gave me a complimentary dessert! The food is pretty traditional and so it has an old-country type taste. I loved my breakfasts of lox bennies even if the hollandaise sauce was a little different. For breakfast I would give a 5/5. For dinner however the food is definitely priced higher especially since the portion size is rather small. I don't even have a picture of the chicken parm as it was quite underwhelming. There server also seemed very grumpy. She was way different from the morning server who kept calling me "Angel". And the dinner food just wasn't of the same quality as the breakfast. I would definitely recommend coming here for breakfast but definitely not for dinner.
I thought Michael was THE BEST, but Mandy and Debbie are EVEN BETTER! Still the best pizza anywhere SCOOZI’s house pizza!
Great food, service, prices and atmosphere! Highly recommend!
This was one of our first stops in Vancouver. Our waitress (perhaps the owner) was one of the friendliest people we had encountered!
The entire restaurant had such beautiful seating. Our booth happened to look onto the street, which was great for people watching. They added complimentary steamed milk in our coffee, which was phenomenal.
We ended up coming back three days in a row. We didn’t want to take a risk that anywhere we tried wouldn’t be as good haha. The food spoke for itself, we haven’t had a good breakfast since.
We can’t wait until we can travel, so we can come back! Thanks for the best service & food💗!
Loved it. Best breakfast we've had in a long time
I tried the best eggs Bennie in town while having 5 star service by server Veronika.
Great place to eat and very friendly staff.
Well done, see you next time 😊
I ordered takeout and got the vegetarian big breakfast for lunch. The portion was big, the food was fresh and delicious and they had it ready super fast for me. The woman who helped me, I think a cook, was very helpful and offered the various accoutrements and had everything packed up very nicely.
Best Breakfast ever!! Old school delicious
Great atmosphere for breakfast. The staff make you feel like family. Really enjoyed the food and coffee.
Always a favourite stop when taking the SkyTrain from YVR to Waterfront Station. Consistently good food and service everytime.
What an amazing place with an excellent environment. Food and Service were awesome!
Food: Traditional Eggs Benedict (Hollandaise sauce was amazing!)
Drink: Coffee
Excellent place for breakfast near the waterfront. The yogurt is especially good, with lots of fruit and honey, an absolute pleasure. The french toast comes with a large helping of bacon too, a solid option if you need more than yogurt.
Delicious food and friendly staff. Definitely recommend!
Excellent! The legendary eggs benny are true to taste. Alfredo's deep dish is rich and delicious. Great coffees. Fantastic service.
I've been eating at Scoozis since 1997. Make sure you ask for Michael the owner who always takes care of you with his wonderful personality. Scoozis is most famous, in my opinion, for their Scoozis Soup or their meatball...personally mt go to for lunch is the soup pizza combo. So tasty. Thank you to Michael and the staff for over 20 years of great food. Ideal place for a business meeting.
Owner was very nice! Even gave my kids free dessert.
Phenomenal family owned and operated breakfast spot
Went here for my first time last night for my bday. The service was great and the food was soooOooo delicious! The best tziki I've ever had and I've had a lot of it in my life. I loved the atmosphere too, it reminded me of my dad's style (even though he's from Italy and Scoozis is based off of Greek), it's the unique decor that's classy old school look, very family cozy vibe. Will definitely go back and recommend!
Walked by this place the other day and smelling bacon so I decided to go there for breakfast the very next day. I was early so there's only me and an old man in the next table. I ordered a coke but I'm sure the coffee is great (can smell it from the old guy's table). The food is also fantastic, the scramble egg, the bacon, the fruit... and it's not very expensive, I expected it'd be around twenty but it's just about 15 buck. The atmosphere is cool, there're outside tables and the interior looks kinda old-school
A great spot for breakfast. I had a latte and a deep dish breakfast plate and really enjoyed it. The service was great as well. Definitely recommended.
Ordered the big breakfast which came with sunny side eggs, bacon, potatoes, white toast, ample amount of coffees me a wedge of orange and watermelon. Good way to start the morning.
The restaurant has a nice family run charm to it (although I do not know if it is actually family ran). The service was efficient, quick and not overly bothersome. The spanikopita here tastes amazing and the Greek salad was top notch (very fresh), the lamb tasted great and the hummus was just right. I personally did not like my virgin ceasar very much since it was not spicy enough but, this was partially my fault because I did not specify how spicy I wanted it. It was also nice to receive a small desert of apple strudel on the house. When I crave Greek/Mediterranean food I will definitely be coming back here again☺️
Excellent wait staff and unique tastes!
Friendly, very good service and excellent tasting food.
Fantastic, fast service and delicious food. Recommend the vegetarian breakfast pizza & breakfast dessert 👌👍
Visiting from Kelowna we were recommended this place by our hotel for breakfast. And it definitely didn't disappoint. we ordered the eggs florentine and traditional eggs benedict that came serve just perfectly with a homemade Hollandaise sauce and home cut potatoes along with fruit. The coffee's come with steamed milk and are the perfect way to start your morning.
And did that with a bite of their apple pie strudel.
Might need to roll out of here but it's worth every bite.
The service was friendly, kind and super warm.
Thank you!!!! Will be back
Wonderful atmosphere and staff. Food made with lots of love. Decorated with warm colors you'd see in Italy
Amazing service and lots of character in this fantastic restaurant.
We went for brunch and I was blown away by the hollandaise sauce. The coffees and mimosas were delicious, generous and refilled in a timely manner.
Amazing well presented food served up quick. Delicious eggs benedict but my favourite is the Florentine- the seasoning on the spinach has to be tried to be believed. The scrambles are good, the breakfast pie is yummy ( get the complimentary zucchini add-on). I eat here whenever I am in Vancouver. The pic below is of the orange juice--to demonstrate the care and attention.
Great food at a cozy place. Superb breakfast!
Lasagna - Great
Scoozie Coffee - Great
Dessert - Great
The reason why 4 stars and not 5 , it's because NO WiFi. However no food complaints! You definitely have to try tiramisu!
this place was interesting much bigger than it looks. I had the breakfest deep dish and it wasn't what i expected but was good. Others I was with had the French toast which looked much better.
Service was okay
Great lasagna. Attentive service, good lunch overall.
Delicious food...
We enjoyed take out breakfast. I had steak and eggs and my friend had bacon and eggs. The meals were generously proportioned and well presented. Both meals came with a fresh cantelope slice, mandarin segments, a few small baked potatoes, toast & jam. Service was pleasant and efficient. The restaurant was clean and we'll appointed. Weather dining in or taking out you are sure to be satisfied. Our two breakfasts without juice or coffee cost $54.00 including taxes before tip.
