Brix and Mortar's Reviews and comments
This place really surprised me! I love that they use the 100 mile diet. All ingredients come from local farms within 100 miles! They have such a beautiful liquor wall with a fantastic cocktail list. Don’t drink? They do custom mocktails based on your desired palette. Their menu changes based on the season for the most freshest in season ingredients.
I visited Brix and Mortar for the first time today. The atmosphere was pretty amazing, and the staff were very friendly and made my friends and I feel at home. The food was okay. Overall, I would recommend Brix and Mortar more for its ambience than food. It is definitely a good place for date night.
I discovered this restaurant after a family friend of mine got married here, and after seeing the decor I could not resist visiting myself. Here’s how it went
Let’s start with the good stuff:
- It was a rather large party (11 people as it was my birthday party) and the restaurant was so accommodating, booking us for a busy weekend night with just one email.
- The ambiance of this restaurant is beautiful. It feels both upbeat and rustic simultaneously, making it a great place to go for a fancy dinner that still feels casual.
- The servers were so friendly and definitely deserve a shout out for being that attentive during a busy night.
- Delicious food
The negative:
-Their “cake-cutting fee”, charging $3 per head for cutting a birthday cake. It kinda puts an asterisk of the festivities, and from my experience this is a highly uncommon surcharge from a restaurant. That being said, if you are not having a birthday party here I’m sure that won’t be an issue for you.
Definitely a great restaurant to check out!!
Excellence dining area with very nice servers.
Beef tanderloin and lamb shank were very tasty.
The missing one star was because of the Mushrooms toast served very salty and acidic.
Overall, this place is very recommended!
Came here for a birthday celebration. Good food and excellent ambience. The live music was a nice touch. I’m not usually a rib person but I ordered the ribs and they were very delicious, just too salty for me to be able to eat all of it. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the rib sauce was amazing. I rate this place 4 stars rather than 5 because of the service. Our server did the absolute bare minimum; asking for our order, bringing the food, coming back once to ask if it was good, then back at the end for payment. The machine’s lowest suggested tip percentage was 18%, which I did not feel was earned by the service. I assume it’s because the restaurant is more on the fancy side. Everything else was great.
Their service is amazing. Even when the restaurant is packed, servers are very attentive and impressive. One of the best focaccia and mashed potato I've ever had and A+ beef tenderloin. Halibut was overcooked but it happens. I would definitely go back.
My friends and I tried this place and it was amazing. Service was awesome and food? You’ve got to try their oven roasted potatoes and fried cauliflower. My friends liked their lamb shank too.
I loved this place. The drinks and foods were unique and top-quality. The servants were nice with good manner.
I ordered a drink named First get hot then get cold or something like that which I loved!!!
My husband ordered an old-fashioned whiskey cocktail that he liked very much.
And the environment, oh it was a delight!!!
Definitely will go again!
I've seen some really random negative reviews, but I was undeterred... Glad I went!!! Got there for happy hour, one of the cheapest around, which convinced our party to stay for dinner! What a great choice! I had the Salmon, and it was perfect. Hal, my server was great, and having Pat (the owner I think) come over was a great touch! Don't miss this gem in Yaletown!!!
Good service, good outdoor patio. Scallop is amazing good. The rice is crispy and tasty when cook it with duck fat. Main course we ordered Lamb and Halibut , both are so so . A little bit on the dry side. octopus salad is unique but it doesn’t match with watermelon. roasted potatoes and pasta ( they special made for the kids)are pretty good. My kids love it.
