AnnaLena's Reviews and comments
Just had one of the most fabulous meals here for DOV! They offer an amazing 5 course tasting menu. Each dish is very well composed, all the flavours work so well together & the presentation is beautiful. As each course is served, they explained in detail the components of the dish. The service is impeccable! They are friendly & knowledgeable. The ambiance is relaxed & the decor is eclectic. This by far has got to be not only one of the best DOV experiences I've ever had, but also one of the best meals I've had. Anna Lena knows what they're doing & they are doing it oh so well. We will definitely be back & I highly recommend you check them out!

We first dined here was about two months ago and had a fantastic dinner. To make sure it wasn't just a one-time lucky experience I wanted to try it again before leaving a review.
Yesterday, we brought our son and girlfriend here to celebrate his birthday and we weren't disappointed. Every course was thoughtfully prepared with every element playing a crucial part of the overall dish. The food was absolutely top notch and the presentation was lovely. Our son had just eaten at his favourite restaurant the night before and came to the conclusion that AnnaLena was now his new favourite!
The service was phenomenal. We had Rebekah as our host previously and this time we had Tara. They were both excellent at making us feel welcomed and really enhanced the dining experience with their descriptions of each dish and expansive knowledge of the wine pairings. You can really feel that the staff are passionate about the food and wine and really want you to get the most out of your time here.
For me, AnnaLena is my favourite "tasting menu" restaurant in Vancouver. I love being surprised at what a restaurant decides to present to its diners, and Chef Robbins's use of ingredients, flavours and textures continues to impress. I can hardly wait for my next visit!
One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver and one I constantly return to. I love their new tasting menu format which means that whenever I go it is a new experience.
Regardless of what the food is, the execution is always top notch. Taste and presentation are excellent and it is really good value for the price too.
Anna Lena is a must visit restaurant in Vancouver.
Update Nov 21, 2021 - Still a great experience!
I come back to this place every month now. This month they have the dine out menu which I think is great. For a bit less price you get the same quality of food. You only lose one pasta course which honestly I don't care about that much.
Overall I like their salad course the best, it is almost always my favorite. They use fresh, seasonal ingredients and make them tasty.
Other courses are also good. Appetizers are always innovative. This time they had a shaved Foie Gras, it was impressive. Dessert is never too sweet or too big, leaves a refreshing note.
My only suggestion for this place is to improve their fish main course. I got fish twice, once it was overcooked and dry, the 2nd time it was kind of flavorless. This time I got the port belly and it was amazing. Didn't taste oily and stinky at all.
Service is also very attentive, they always come by to refill my water. Decor is morden, owner really likes KAWS, and have a good taste in music.
Dined for dinner.
Was a very pretty and hip setting. Good service. We did the tasting menu with one wine pairing. Loved the three starters. The salmon and the meat main I was not too fond of. The salmon sauce was overpowering and the steak meat was cut in a way that made it tough. The torn bread was amazing. The wine pairing was interesting with great white wines, I thought so great that the wine were more suited to sip on own and did not really complement the food. The restaurant was busy and slightly noisy. It was still a good experience and definitely would recommend getting the bread.
We really enjoyed the tasting menu we had at AnnaLena. Such a thoughtful menu and the flavours builds up and gets more intense after each dish. My faves were the trout, tortellini and the duck - the duck was perfectly cooked and so tender. The dessert was just the right sweetness and was the perfect end to the meal. If you’re not into alcoholic drinks, the From East End to West End mocktail was refreshing. The service was also great. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I dined here with a friend recently, and would recommend others to give Anna Lena’s service and fine dining a try. Their servers were wonderful wine connoisseurs who introduced many of their old and new world selections. I also found the space wonderfully decorated with all the whimsical BearBricks; it gives the white space a casual sophisticated atmosphere.
We ordered their 6-course menu with the wine pairings, and most of their dishes were delightful and full of flavour. All 6 wine choices went well with their corresponding dish. We loved their baby gem salad choice with house made lardo, the garlic torn bread that went with their velouté, and both their mains: bison short rib and the wagyu, which were cooked perfectly. The dessert was unfortunately a little lacklustre in flavour notes after their savoury mains.
The portions are also on the smaller side; you’re really there to enjoy the atmosphere and flavours. I would highly recommend to reserve an earlier time as they do get busy later in dinner service. Also, do the wine pairings along with the meal - makes it a lot more fun :)
Thank you Anna Lena for a superb dining experience. Great place to celebrate intimate holidays and dates.
Torn Bread. Torn Bread. I cannot stress that enough! It’s on their “secret menu”.
The food and service here is always amazing, and I love the rotating tasting menu. I think I have come here enough times now to make a proper review!
The only downside is the noise level. I went as a party of 4 and could not even hear anyone at the table, nor the server as she was describing the dishes. If you’re seated in the booths, the sound echoes on the inside of the arch. Not sure if the group of ladies seated in the other booth were loud, drunk, or just… loud, but we heard their entire conversation all evening.
TLDR. Ask for seating by the windows, where it’s tucked away for a quieter dining experience. Do not sit at the booths.
The restaurant is small with a chic vibe. Each dish in the tasting menu are interesting and build the flavour on top of each other. Really enjoyed the food and the experience! The only regret is that we didn’t get their house made bread, we are definitely going back!
One of the best fine dining in Vancouver. I ordered a tasting menu which changes every week. All food tasted great, was well presented and a fair amount of portion was provided.
Server explained each menu and was very friendly. A table was not close to the other tables in the patio, which helps with some social distancing while eating.
I am definitely going back for the next special occasion.
