The Hole In The Wall's Reviews and comments
My favourite whiskey bar! Check out their sister joint, Bothams, right next door. Extremely friendly staff, very helpful, and beautiful interior. However if you come here when it’s busy on Friday and Saturday nights, be prepared to wait! It's popular for a reason ;) their brunch is excellent too.
A nice place to kickback and catch up with friends. Unique decor, made me feel like I was in a Harry Potter movie.
One of the best dine-in experiences I've ever had with delicious food, great Belgian beer selection and lovely live music. The atmosphere is so cozy and rustic and the service is great.
Well...this is a popular hipsterý - rustic bar. Food selection is kinda limited and the portions are small "but" the alcohol options are many pages long. Food was intriguing and tasty and staff was fenomenal - working with you at all times. We went there on Friday so the wait at the door was 40min and I noticed people struggled to get tables all through the night. Nevertheless once you're set the fun is worth it.
I recently visited for the first time to dine on the patio and had a great experience. It was a chilly night so our server brought us blankets which was lovely. I especially enjoyed the parsnip apple soup.
The front display of baked goods is tantalizing. Ive had a go at several of their donuts and some sourdough. This place definitely gets my donut craving with their nutella stuffed goodness.
Love the ambience here, tables are private and are great for big groups. Drinks are also really good
Been coming to this neighborhood for years. They don't take reservations is a clue. AMAZING food anď drinks. Cool vibes and music. Eperienced and wonderful staff. Ryan makes a wicked old fashioned with love. Thanks Ryan!
I can't rate this place high enough. Would be 10 out of 5 if possible. It's a cool, cozy atmosphere that is great for drinks and food with friends or a date. The food is absolutely incredible! It's amazing what they crank out of that little kitchen. They change the menu regularly and have daily specials. The drink menu is extensive with plenty of beer, wine and spirits. I've spent plenty of nights trying new beers and exploring scotches at this place. It's one of Toronto's best secrets.
One of my favorite restaurants in TO. Amazing local craft beers selection, great atmosphere, awesome service and incredible food. The calamari is to die for.
My favourite place in the Junction for both drinks and a delicious brunch, this is my number one go to place when here. Plus, it's indescribably beautiful/spilling with atmosphere and the folks who work here are attentive, kind, helpful and friendly. A must visit!!
I had a wonderful time here , my first plate it was some delicious Calamari and I promise to bring you pictures next time. Prices are reasonable , the staff is pretty helpful .
I often visit this location whether it's for brunch, lunch or dinner. It's very casual and they have great food. Tuesday nights are buck a shuck so if you enjoy oysters, it's a sweet deal
If you want to go to the perfect neighbourhood bar, in a great neighbourhood, then the Hole in the Wall is a must visit in the Junction. To say the food is deceptively good would be an understatement.
One of the most charming spots in the junction. Great beer and wine selection, good food, cozy and lively ambiance.
great food and excellent service!. Also they have the best organic bread in the area.
Great bar with table service. Small but stretches quite far back. Huge selection of beers and knowledgeable staff happy to give advice. Wide selection of Scotch whiskey too, with a whole page dedicated to Islay distilleries.
Amazing burger! We enjoyed the $19 pint and burger special on Wednesday. Small, cosy spot but excellent bar selection and delicious food. Prompt and friendly service. We would gladly return.
Great food and excellent staff. All patio seating right now, so there is sometimes a bit of a wait, but it is more than worth it.
There was no hole in the wall.
However, their duck wings were really good, and drinks were actually quite cheap and affordable. But it’s super packed in there so be careful not to knock over someone else’s drink while you’re rush to go to pee.
We had an amazing time there !!!! Awesome service includes great food !! A guy named Patrick was a pleasure to be served by !!! Thank You !!
My favourite local hole in the wall. Nostalgia for buck a shuck and live music in-person, but they offer great takeout options in the meantime. Sunday Dinner is an incredible value.
Nice staff, great food. Fish&chips was one of the best I’ve tried in Toronto, also pizza there was delicious, not even mentioning that you can get 2 pizzas for $25 only (Monday-Wednesday). Can’t wait for Covid to be over and to have a drink inside.
Delicious food, cozy environment and lovely staff (all our servers were friendly and efficient). The spatz and cheese, duck confit wings and croquettes were the faves of the evening. The chocolate mousse dessert with peanuts and coconut milk was also a nice way to end the meal. Great place to chat with friends and eat some amazing food. Totally an unexpected find :)
Recently discovered this place while walking past on the weekend. Decided to treat myself to a donut and they are delicious! So good that I have already been back to try another flavour (lemon lavender is the best so far) :)
Friendly customer service and I like the vibe of the place, even during the pandemic.
My partner and I came in to get some alcohol for take-out and told them to "surprise us" because they had such a large variety available in cans. Did not disappoint at all, even though the serve at sounded a bit nervous at first.
Will have to check out your take out food next time as well. They had bacon jam...which sounds interesting, we are intrigued.
Look forward to when the pandemic is over and we can come back here and have an actual drink at the bar!
Thank you for great service and great selection of beers!
Solid service. Great fries. I didn't love the hamburger. Lots of beer choices.
Great spot with caring owners who need all the help we can give them! I stopped in here while on a trip to the Junction and was pleasantly surprised by their COVID patio experience! Tried the smoked olives which were super yummy! Also, asked for a brown ale and even with their limited bar selection post covid they found me a Boddington's which I absolutely loved! 😍 Will definitely be coming back for me!
Loved this place pre pandemic and love it now! Incredible food and drinks. They also do fresh sourdough bread and bagels to take home most days and their patio is well worth a visit. Recommended the oysters, wings, and nachos but to be honest, you can't go wrong with anything!
We recently discovered this hidden gem while taking a walk and we are so happy we did. We purchased a loaf of sourdough bread a few doughnuts and a few scones. Everything was amazing, freshly baked and delicious, we will definitely be back again.
Great evening. Nice cocktails, intimate and with a wait. I found a spot at the bar conveniently enough so didn't have much delay. Nice bartenders, seemed busy.
They make a great Old Fashioned! Awesome little neighborhood spot.
Nice, chill place. The huevo rancheros were really good. It did not feel like too much food. Broad variety of drinks 👍Staff very friendly and good ambiance music.
Came here on Family Day- completely full restaurant and bar, people pouring in ordering tons of things all across the board- only one server/bartender working.
As someone who works in the industry I am beyond impressed with how professional, courteous, and quick on her feet the ONLY server/bartender was. She handled the rush like an absolute champion, was polite, answered all questions from folks in the bar, and pumped out some amazing cocktails.
This place consistently goes above and beyond in their quality of food and bevvies, but their staff is genuinely incredible.
Highly recommend.
As always the food + drink was amazing and the service impeccable! Definitely my "go to" spot for get togethers with food friends. A++
This place is great. I am a personal fan of their 6 Bagels for $6 deal— they always have delicious baked goods, and such a great vibe both inside and outside the restaurant (that front entrance!!).
Support your local! Especially now! My last two visits featured a very different menu than pre-pandemic and a new location. Menu is pizza-heavy now and the new location is right next door to the old. Had pizza both times and it was excellent - thin crust, good toppings, done in a brick oven. Excellent service both times.
Place was crowded for a Wednesday! I personally loved the decor and the atmosphere. A friend and I shared the buffalo cauliflower and it was good. The live music started a bit later than 10 but we enjoyed it while we were able to. The server could’ve been a bit friendlier or more personable at least, I get the place is loud and there are lots of people, and maybe they’ve been serving or bartender for years and they’re kinda over it, but they didn’t have to act like the fact that we sat in his section annoyed him lol for some reason I got that vibe which didn’t really add to the experience
Steak frites was wicked. Curried cauliflower super yum yum. Can't wait to return
We discovered this gem while on a walk and have made it a sunday ritual to get fresh bagels and whichever flavour of cream cheese they're offering that day. We've also ordered pizza and the brussel sprout salad which were delicious. I look forward to dining in he restaurant one day.
The best thing that ever happened to Mondays is 2-for-$25 oraganic sourdough pizzas. Had a very tasty cacio e pepe (e zucchini!) and my resident Margherita-lover very happy too. The best thing that ever happened to every other day of the week is Hole in the Wall/Botham’s. So many tempting pantry items, baked goods, beer, wine, chips....
This place is the best. We now go regularly for their bagels which are fresh and tasty. Great baked goods + doughnuts too among other things. A favourite spot.
Service was really slow. The food was mediocre. The take out bagels were quite good and fresh
Locals had been telling me about this place for a while and IT’S TOTALLY worth it! We absolutely adore this place! It’s a cross between some of the low key but highly stocked and ON POINT bars in SF, but all Toronto Junction. The folks operating this know what they’re doing but it still feels so chill, low key and inviting. There’s also an awesome sun roof that makes weekend brunch time sparkle. Awesome place!
Amazing food and fantastic beer selection. Had their special of the day "fish pie". The smoked trout in it really made the dish. Absolutely fantastic. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. Only downside is this place is so busy you'll have to wait for a spot sometimes. Of course that just means it's that good so...
My fav to go place for weekend brunch or even weeknights I’m Junction.
Friendly staff who know locals. No attitude no wait in ridiculous line ups and great atmosphere. Live music some evenings is a cherry on top. Lots of whiskey and Scotch to choose from.
The brunch collection is pretty selective - about one page and a few weekly specials.
Great vibes at this joint. Service was a bit lacking but nothing outrageous. Come for the live music, stay for the grub
Don't go on a Friday or Saturday if you like getting a table or being able to hear anything, but go there on a weekday and it's always a good time. They have some good craft beers, but who doesn't these days? Their food always blows me away. High quality buck a shuck, in particular. And of course the awesome atmosphere.
Wonderful little place recommended to us by friends. Great cocktails. Decent beer selection. The burger was also pretty good. Fantastic ambience. Definitely “a hole in the wall” but well worth it!
Fabulous, high end pub in the Junction. My partner and I come here 4-6 times a year. Cozy ambiance and attentive servers. Food is spectacular, as are the unique cocktails. Limited seating so come early if you don't want to wait ... although the wait is worth it!
The rotating tap selection is top notch. Great service. Eclectic interior and cozy vibe for a pub.
My favourite bar in the junction! The menu is incredible and they have a great beer list. I couldn’t care care less for vegetables but the seasonal greens and curried chicken slaw are my fave.
What a neat little place. Very cool atmosphere and great drink selection. The smoked chicken is also amazing. We'd been meaning to check this place out for awhile but had put it off. What a shame! Very worth the visit and we'll be back.
Great ambiance here, impressive tap list. The oysters on Tuesdays are 1$, fairly decent. The calamari is amazing!!! Food is a bit pricey. My boyfriend got the burger- not recommended. Be prepared to wait a bit as it is literally, a hole in the wall. Overall, recommended as it's a beautiful bar
Awesome comfort food, cozy atmosphere, and excellent craft beer selection.
Excellent place that flies under the radar. Diverse and young crowd. Fair prices and solid cocktails. Some of their meals and specials are very high quality, including their excellent burgers based on their high quality hand-made patties. Can get full quickly, and may be hard to get a table or spot at the bar. You might go here if you're into live music (solo folk, indie, covers), a hipster, or quality food, service, drink. Skip it if you're looking for high style or polish, or an older crowd / bar scene.
Always a great time. They usually have live music and are always open late. Take "hole in the wall" literally. The front entrance is set back from the road and I wouldn't suggest going with more than 4 people as the seating is limited. The food is always tasty and the bartenders are knowledgable the beer is good and the people are friendly. It's a great go-to spot for locals!
The absolute best roast beef dinner I've had in a long, long time!
Great, friendly service and a very cosy atmosphere.
I've been coming here for years and am always impressed. Yesterday I went and decided to get food as well. The vegan tostada was incredible. The freshest veggies, great seasoning. I mean, for a Monday for food to taste that good?! So pleased! Drinks are great here. Atmosphere is cozy. I recommend if you haven't checked it out.
Small cozy bar in the Junction. As soon as we walked in we felt welcomed by the friendly staff member - her interaction through out our stay was warm and pleasant. We were only there for a drink and it was pleasant to see that the draft beer was decently priced. Would definitely come back!
Stopped in here for a drink after a lovely dinner at Nodo. Cool bar atmosphere. Lots of little unique decorating touches. Space is like one giant narrow hallway. Had a great cocktail with vermouth, pineapple and I think rum? It was delicious and strong. The food smelled and looked good too so will have to return and give that a try.
Went for lunch on a Sunday but sadly, like all of Toronto, all they were serving was brunch. I hate eggs. But that didn’t stop us from enjoying a lovely fresh pint and a dram of scotch from their very impressive list of that highland liquid gold before we moved on. Will try to get back on a Saturday when there are less egg dishes on the menu.
We've been to this place many times. It has a very chill atmosphere, that is brought to life when there is live music. My favourite time to visit is brunch, where the afternoon light floods through the skylight above the bar.
The food is simply amazing. We've never had a plate that wasn't spot on. Everyone we've brought here has walked away full and satisfied.
Great food and drink and service 110/100 do recommend!
Nice oysters and calamari. Good selection of beers and an epic list of alcohols. Limited seating, dark with a speakeasy vibe.
Don't look around to much- it's REALLY dusty. *Insert Jon Taffer from Bar Rescue losing his mind about the cleanliness.*
Been here three times now. The food is excellent and the service very friendly. Seems like a bar, but the chef is outstanding, creative and accommodating of dietary needs. The live music is nice and not overwhelmingky Lou's, as it often is in small venues.
Snug, tucked away bar that is so easy to over pass!
The neon “open” sign does not fit the rustic interior and exterior at all!
Best bar in Toronto. Totally unique, cool feel with great food and beer on tap. Not a ton of seating, but the unique set up more than makes up for it. There is a small stage and the bar hosts live acts from time to time. Wait staff is amazingly helpful, cheerful, and friendly. Truly the best kept secret of The Junction and a necessary stop on any pub crawl.
One of my favorite bars. The beer selection could include more mainstream beers instead of just craft beer, but the selection they have is good. The people and the unique building and decor is what mostly does it for me here, along with the down to earth friendly people.
Been here three or four times now. Foods great and there's a wide selection of craft beers and liquors and wines. I like that it's dark and relaxing, plus the live music is usually cool. Great place. I'll be back for sure.
Fantastic bar if your looking for chill vibes, great cocktails and craft beers. Its a narrow bar so this isn't a place for a large group. It's perfect spot for a date, good conversations, or to hang out with a buddy. Live music is featured towards the back of the bar.
One of my favorite bars, if not, then my number one favorite in Toronto. Been going here for years, they have the best whiskey selection, good beers on tap (my usual go-to is Beau's) . Casey is an absolute gem, if I ever open a bar, I want a bartender like that. Charismatic and experienced. I usually get a Pisco Sour or Bourbon Old Fashioned, and they've been amazing every time. Really great date spot too, dimly lit with candles, got the live music going. It's an experience each and every time. Oh and their duck wings? Yeah, try that. The Calamari and Spaetzle are top notch as well, usual go-to's. They need to add more stars to give for places like this. Hole in the Wall is a staple, the soul of the Junction. Extremely recommended
True to its name, it's easy to miss walking down Dundas, but well worth a visit. Funky ambience, excellent cocktails and tasty, creative dishes. Being a hole in the wall, it does however fill up quickly so get here early.
Ya this is the place for quality, value and being around a great bunch of people. Lots of locals and tourists like me enjoy the true sports restaurant atmosphere, the service and the very cozy surroundings. The food and beer are always tops with an accent put on value which is harder to find these days. This is my spot when I travel to North Conway. Now if they could only add a terrace I would add a fifth star!
There's no doubt that this bar is interesting. The decor is textured and mixed and adds to the colloquial, rustic feel that is Hole in the Wall. They have a great selection of drinks all located in the menu. After visiting the website I had high hopes for the menu, which was not bad, but more like (fancy) bar food than I had hoped. It seems to fill up quickly and there's more than likely a wait to get a seat.
The staff--although a little overwhelmed--seemed very friendly and helpful.
Best suggested for a drink with a small group of friends.
Cute place! Very cozy but nice vibe to it. Went for some drinks and live music. Felt a little pressured by the performers to tip big which I wasn’t a huge fan of but I get it.. would definitely go back to try the food sometime
Great burgers. I love the narrow rustic feel of this place. There was a short wait on a Sunday so you know this is a good place that is well loved by the locals. Very good food. Fries were crispy and delicious but a tad over salted.
Wonderfully unique cocktails and a comfy vibe that sets it apart from the rest of the Junction. While it may not seat a ton of people at once, the turnover rate means you rarely have to wait long to get a seat at or near the bar. Don't hesitate to ask for a drink recommendation from the bartender - odds are you'll come away hella happy. Highly recommended for solo drinks.
Probably the most aptly named bar in Toronto, and definitely one of my favourites.
There's live music 5 days/week, and open mic on Mondays. They've been around for something like 15 years, and it shows. Every part of the operation is really polished: great service, solid menu, and decent beer selection. Really, if you're in the Junction and feel like something a little more authentic than the Indie Ale House across the street, it's probably your best bet.
Favourite neighbourhood spot. Everything is delicious, great cocktails (they'll make you something off list if you ask). Great dinner spot for pairs and small groups. They also do brunch, and I'm always shocked when there's no line because it's amazing food and cesars!
Food is great! Service is bad. And when I mean bad I mean we waited 30 minutes for a table then a group of staff came in and got sat before us.... not to mention the host barley even spoke and had this I'm too cool for you attitude. Overall like the place a lot. They should probably rethink their minimum wage employees because lots of people are dying for jobs and to have a crappy wanna be musician seating tables probably isn't the best idea.
Great spot for dinner or brunch. Small menu always well-prepared. Friendly, cozy atmosphere. It’s a Junction institution—from the hidden storefront to the make-do furnishings on down. Never had a bad experience here.
Local favourite. Great service and food. Good mix of on tap beer. Fries are amazing. Look at board for specials. Always well done. A chill atmosphere.
They have a very small stage for musicians to perform, service is fantastic and efficient, lots of local beer options which I really like, didn’t get a chance to try the cocktail tho, definitely a great place to go if you want to go to a cozy bar.
Great food and not over priced!!! Had good live entertainment on a sat night. Wait staff was friendly. Small place and it was busy. Spirts menu is extensive. Well worth the visit.
Aptly named. We weren't sure it was open it's so tucked away. Good food, excellent beers to choose from. It's very narrow and you are liable to be bumped into now and then by a server running back and forth from kitchen to tables tacked on to the wall, but hey, it's the size of the place and the the way they've decorated the challenging shape that makes it fun. #1 place to go for a light meal and drinks in the Junction area.
Amazing place. Tough to find the location and the place does look ghetto from outside. But its nice inside. Not too bright nor dark. If you go there make sure to try their calamari. U will keep ordering more. Its a small place so not much seating. N sit closer to the door live band can be a bit loud.
Fabulous place. Narrow space but Uber hip. Exposed brick walls, phenomenal chandelier from an era past 20 ft + towering ceilings. Cocktails are smashing and meal is good. Pricing is good. Perfect for a date 🍸
Love the decor and warm, solid feeling of the place. You feel very tucked away in all the best ways. This is not a traveler spot though, this is where friends and couples meet. Draft beers, mixed drinks and a select food menu. Didn't stay for the music, but would be curious to see that.
Cool hip bar for hanging out with friends. Food is simple but delicious. The live music evenings are great and I have been ther several times. The Scotch prices(e.g. 2cl Glenmorangie Signet 35$!!) are ridicilouis and therefore only 4 stars.
This place is adorable, beautifully done up and has a great drinks and food menu. It fits in the with the Junction vibe completely. It really is a hole in the wall but you feel you've come out to a super cool place on the other side of the wall.
Really amazing place. Truly a hole in the wall, very small, but feels really warm and open with the high ceiling and the sky light. The food is amazing, and the drinks are also very good. I wish I lived closer, I would be by all of the time.
This is prob one of my 2 fav bars in the city. I love the vibe and decor. It does get packed, but that jsut tells u how good it is. I always wait amd seat becomes available. Amazing food, with new daily specials, buck a shuck oyster Tuesdays, and cocktails....are...amazing . Not a huge cocktail menu but the bartender /mixologist is very good and if you tell him what you like he can craft one just for you from scratch. Live music , great crowd .
Ok. So. I'm just not the right demographic for this place. The name intrigued me so I wanted to check it out. It's literally a hole in the wall, very witty name, love that. Went in, loved the set up of decor choices, and the staff were very attentive even those the place was completely packed. But DAMN is this space narrow, and I get clausraphobic when there is massive crowds of people in a tight space. And so, if you're like me, probably gunna have to give it a hard pass for the weekends. That being said, haven't been there on a week day and that could be a better experience for me --if that's the case I'll update--.
I asked for a drink recommendation based off my taste in liquor and the server chose the perfect drink for me. Felt weird asking for a drink recommendation, cause that feels like something annoying to ask a server; but he was super friendly and knew exactly what to make me.
Prices were fair for what went into making the drinks and how busy they get as a business. That being said, it is a touch on the pricey side if you are a student on a tight budget.
Buck-a-shuck oysters on Tuesdays, live music during the rest of the week. Very tiny and cozy with an awesome beer list, fantastic cocktails and a beautifully stocked bar. Food cannot be beat. Get there early to ensure a seat for you and your party!
Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and killer food. Much respect for keeping the menu small. The attention to detail and spotlighting the care involved with each dish shines once you're tasting them. A real step up from standard, pretentious gastro pub fare.
Only tried the doughnuts but they were really good. My favourite was the raspberry lemon Boston cream.
The decor is great, the food is good and the small menu is the right size for the size of the place. The veggie burger is great, lots of drink selection and the simple premise of the recessed entry and high ceilings in what looks like was once an exterior alleyway all add to this sweet spot. The tables and barstools at the front are impacted significantly by the door opening and closing which may be helped by a simple heavy curtain installed at the entry.
Amazing place that doesn't disappoint. Great selection of beers, nice scotches and some cocktails. Food is good as well, try their specials.
This was by far the coolest place I found in a while. It is exactly what it says it is. Except it's the cutest little hole-in-the-wall I've ever found. If you walk too fast you will miss it. The entranceway has floor tiles from Edwardian times and if you look up you'll see a tin ceiling and what used to be gas powered lights I'm sure. And all of this before you even walk in the front door. It's a sweet little place that you really have to try out. I totally loved the place, and the staff. Check it out
This is a favorite establishment of mine that is easy to miss if you've never been there because its name is pretty accurate. The beer menu is very good and the food is delicious. I've been many times now and I see that trend continuing.
One of the best places in Toronto. Great food and great music!!
The first time I met friends here, I actually walked past the door twice, because it’s kind of hidden behind another doorway and very narrow. That’s how accurately and aptly named it is. It’s totally cozy and belongs in a tv show or movie. The food was your standard amazing pub fare and drinks too. I hope this remains a neighbourhood hangout!
Favorite bar in the junction. Great cocktails, wine and beer list. Good food as well! Love music sometimes and there's always a chill vibe in the place.
Cool little spot that usually has live music on weekends. Tried 4 times before getting in here but it was worth it. Good beer selection and the snack we ordered was tasty too! Very neat spot but limited seating.
I've been here a few times now and always liked it. Everything that is done here is done with thoughtfulness and quality. Dozens of bars in Toronto have the same outward appearance, but few deliver on the feeling and experience of this place.
True to the name, this bar is a cozy hole in a wall that is packed with character. We stayed and read at the bar one afternoon and had wonderful service, food and drinks. Environment is such you won’t want to leave
Went to brunch in a group of 5. Space was cozy with lots of antique objects of interest. Server was very friendly. She was attentive - showed up at the right times to take order and refill coffee. Food (Eggs Benedict, Hervos Ranchero & Full Breakfast) were all tasty. Portion size was good - not large but filling enough for all of us.
This place is great if you like relaxed service and people and want consistently great food and lots of beer and scotch options. Sunday roast dinner is delicious, bar staff are wonderful and friendly.
Amazing! They've got the nicest waitress, Jess, with such nice environment, friendly people hang out there. Amazing food, specially the potatoes...a variety of craft beer. Simply awesome!
Just dropped in for a drink and a rest. Very relaxed place. Good music and attentive service. Will come back for some good beer and to try the food. Menu looks great.
Friendly staff, all of the food I've had there is excellent. The burgers are really good. There is a diverse selection of craft beer on tap. The place had a cozy atmosphere.
Best bar in the junction. Amazing food, great beer selection and cocktails. All around great atmosphere and the music is always on point. I've seen some really great artists/bands here.
Been there many times and not once did they falter - bravo! Serive and food are awesome. One of the best selections of wisky in town. Every time I'm in the area I am drawn to their duck wings. Oysters at a buck a shot on Tuesday can't be beat.
Great selections of beer, especially some from Quebec which I hadn't been able to find outside the province. The food was good, I had the burger and fries, however the fries were a little too salty for my taste. I'd recommend coming here for the atmosphere, selection of drinks and the live music.
Great place for a date night with live music. Just a heads up that space is limited here so hit and miss in securing a table or a seat at the bar.
Still one of the better places to hit up in the Junction district.
Amazing warm, cozy and inviting atmosphere with a massive collection of spirits, rare whiskeys and tequilas. The food was perfect, and not overly expensive, the curried cauliflower is phenomenal.
This bar lives up to it's name. It's a great little space originally a gap between two buildings that has been turned into a charming little place to grab a drink. Their menu is great too. But they don't have wifi, so don't go looking for it.
Great drink selection and the food is pretty tasty. It's quite small so I wouldn't recommend it for larger groups. Service can be quite slow at times, but generally friendly. Great place to stop by for drinks (and buck-a-shuck on Tuesdays!).
Great food selection and drink selection! The atmosphere is relaxed and fun here. A really unique place in the city to hang out.
Nice place, pleasant atmosphere, live music, but not very loud so you're actually able to have a conversation. Choice of locally crafted beers and great food.
Somehow stays away from being a novelty spot despite the trend of "secret bars". This place packs a lot of punch-per-square-foot with live music and walls adorned with single malt whiskies. Hard to get a seat, but isn't that the point? Happy to fly under the radar with 4/5 stars.
Good food and pretty decent service. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles which was amazing. I ordered the eggplant Benedict but was disappointed, the price was the same as the meat eggs benedict which never happens, but i wanted to try it out anyway. Eggplant is already mushy to begin with, and when you pair it with a potato base instead of a chewy hard english muffin, it made sense that it was hard to enjoy for me. Would return for the waffles and environment but not the eggplant benny.
My favourite bar in the neighborhood. Excellent atmosphere, good beer selection, good food. Only complaint is that it's hard to get a seat because it's usually crowded!
Very cool place! Great live music. Great selection of craft beers. Great service.
Food is decent. Love Suck for a Buck- oysters Tuesday.
This bar is so good I don't even want to post this for fear of it getting busier than they already are! : p
The bar back is one of the best in the city, everything i have ever eaten here is unreal and very reasonably priced. The entertainment and music, whenever i've caught it has always been lovely. Well done thitw!
Hole in the Wall is a really cool space. It's pretty tiny, as the name suggests, but makes for a great spot for a first, second, tenth, 100th date. Friendly staff, clean washroom, good selection of beer and spirits.
Lovely hidden gem. Great atmosphere. Eclectically decorated narrow bar that lives up to its name. Great selection of 16 draught beers.
Been here a number of times on weekends for breakfast. The rancheros are great, the full english is great, the cuban breakfast sandwich is great, and now they have chicken and waffles which made my day when I had them.
The coffee is rich, the food cures hangovers, and the service is sweet, I wouldn't change a thing.
My local for many good reasons. Ben and Jack are great guys and dedicated to good food, good drinks and a friendly neighborhood atmosphere with a dark, sinister underbelly that seeths, nay oozes hipster cred. OK that was a bit much. See you there.
ThIS HOLe. IN THE. WaLL. IS NOt. A. HOLe. Iñ. THE. WAll. ITiS A. DIAMOND iN. THE. rOUgH
Fantastic beer menu, $7.50 draught pints, and an environment loaded with character. The seating mainly consists of the bar which stretches across the room.
Good service, good drinks, good vibes! Definitely one of the best bars in the Junction. Acoustic concerts add to the nice ambiance too!
Outstanding atmosphere and phenomenal food. The fact they’ve been able to turn this out of the way Into one of the busiest gastro-bars in Toronto should tell you everything you need to know.
Courteous staff, massive selection of alcohol, mature fun patrons. Pricier than your typical 'local' and the food is ... I guess it's ok. Bonus that they accept Amex.
When a bartender can tell you the history of every drink he serves and another member of the staff recognizes you and gets you a spot after only 3 visits then it's no hardship to say THIS IS MY KIND OF PLACE! Highly recommended.
Always great food, friendly staff and lots of live music - so good they are busy so call early or grab a drink at the bar while waiting for a table!
Such a quirky little pub tucked away in the junction! Great atmosphere, really friendly service, and a pretty good drink selection, too. Had a great time here.
Good food. Good beer. Service is okay, but can be better. They are exclusive given the size, but premium service can help elevate their desire to be recognized.
Great music and ambuance. The food is very good. I found the duck wings yummy and the vegan tostada is superb! The selectoon of drinks is great.
First impression the place looks a bit sketchy but, great selection of beer and very good pub food. Service was excellent and atmosphere was fun and they played some great music....great place for a couple or small group to hang out😀
Best neighbourhood bar in the Junction. Quite literally a hidden gem. Great atmosphere with delicious drinks and food. Weekly specials, as well (hello buck a shuck Tuesdays!)
Excellent selection of local craft beer on tap. Food was amazing as well, smoked trout app was unreal. Check this place out it won't disappoint!
Tiny place in the Junction that serves tasty food and a good booze selection.
Fills up fast after 5pm. Lots of craft beer and great Mezcals.
really great spot for small groups to go and have some drinks. Dark interior and really feels like a bar. Granted this review is based on after work cocktails.
We got in quickly but had to wait over 45 minutes for our food. When it arrived, the waffles were burnt. Coffee was good and service was decent but overall we were very disappointed with our experience.
Had fun here - great live music and some cool menu options. I want to recommend the duck wings but lately when I order them they are more skin than meat.
Came here for buck-a-shuck oysters on Tuesday night. Nice to receive a few extra on our order of a dozen. Also ordered duck wings and fries which were good except a bit too salty.
Food and drinks are delicious. Just make sure you get there early. Buck a shuck Tuesdays is also rad, but our Saturday Brunch was awesome!
Went here on a date lol. The girl was a smoke show. Shoulda taken her someplace classier 😔. I'm dumb. However - this place was definitely classy enough for me and I loved the vibe and I can't wait to go back so don't get the wrong idea.
Great spot to grab a bite. Delicious menu. Wide selection of craft beer. Live music. Trendy ambience. Very hip, good hangs ;)
Go grab some roasted cauliflower, duck wings, and a pint of Neustadt Sauerkraut and love life.
In fact, go pretty much any night of the week for insane specials from the kitchen, buck a shuck Tuesday, or indulge with an incredible roast beef dinner, complete with fresh Yorkshire pudding and seasonal veggies any given Sunday.
This is such a cozy place! Great service and large beer selection. I just wished the appetizers were a bit bigger. I'll sure come back!
Awesome atmosphere, awesome food, and awesome drinks. What a pleasant find. It truly was a find because this place is quite literally a hole in the wall. Great place for a date night.
My fiancee wants you all to know that she had the best meal she's had in a long time here. For the record, it was the Vegan Tostada, and I had a similarly amazing roast beef dinner.
We are from North of Chicago and found this place while walking the neighborhood. Def my kinda dive bar. Great service, bartender even gave me suggestions on beer.
Great atmosphere. Nice beer selection with decent food. Good rustic look to the place
Great little bar. Didn't eat but the food looked great. The staff was really nice and the band was lots of fun.
Always great, don't tell anyone.
Fantastic food, inspired beverages. The staff remembers our favorites. Every time we come here it's like being welcomed by an old friend.
Great spot. Best bourbon list I've found in the city. Food was original and delicious. The duck wings are fantastic.
This place is a gem. We often take guests hear and it delivers on atmosphere, excellent drink selection, quality pub fare with live music nightly.
What a great little place! Hidden away in a... yup, hole in the wall, you may walk by it the first time or two. Great ambience and decor. The food was excellent.
Great local joint. Small but intimate. The food offered is not typical and delicious (especially the duck wings) Mmmm... Mouth-watering!
Excellent hidden jam in junction
Very cozy atmosphere, friendly stuff and excellent drink selection. Can get a bit busy during Tuesday for buck per oyster
Great selection of drinks. Awesome house-made veggie burger. A bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. Great chill atmosphere
Great place. Limited seating, but if you can get a table it's a fantastic place to spend an evening.
Wow, this place exceeded my expectations. The food is great. Had the veggie burger and it was amazing. The place really is a hole in the wall and narrow. I'll be back again for sure.
What a beautiful bar! Perfect interior. A perfect spot to pull up a bar stool and have a few cold ones. I was there just the other day and I will definitely be back again soon.
Cool little drinking hole. Good selection of beet on tap and in bottles. Have not tried the food but it looks good.
Bit of a gem in this neighborhood, could miss it if you weren't aware so lives up to its name, live entertainment, good drink selection a go with the flow staff, feels like a bar you would expect to find in a New York borough
Amazing food and service!
Ordered a few dishes. 2 salads.. Tasty. All dishes were delicious... Well priced. Chocolate mousse needs a little work.
Great food, wonderful staff. Waits can be long but they're always honest and will look after you while you wait.
Fantastic food and even better cocktails. The service is terse yet effective. I love it
Adorable local bar, intimate, cozy date night spot and excellent bar menu!
Delicious food and friendly service. Amazing selection of whiskey. Great live music. Best bar in the Junction.
I love this place. The atmosphere is amazing. The food is amazing and the staff is amazing. I can't recommend this place more. It's our weekly go-to!
A neat little find literally a hole in the wall with good staff service and nice atmosphere. The food options are a little limited but served elegantly.
Very friendly staff and great atmosphere.
Food was a little slow to come out to us, but it was well worth the wait. I definitely recommend this place
The perfect place to enjoy an Old Fashioned and watch a band play! Great ambiance with friendly staff. Highly recommend!
My favourite local bar. Very relaxed, and the staff are super friendly. Great food and excellent drinks.
What a great place, amazing drinks, good food and cool venue. Great neighbourhood hangout, hope to frequent often.
Some of the best food and prices on fine scotch in the city. Lack of proper whiskey glasses though sadly
Great service. Amazing pizza.
Huge selection of whiskey and draft beer, amazing food (the duck wings!), and great service. One of the best spots in the junction.
My favourite bar in Toronto and a great local. Cool vibe, friendly service and excellent food! Always come back.
Good food and great atmosphere, likely deserves a higher rating but pobody's nerfect. Would hate to have them stop trying...
Just had drinks here so can't give it the fifth star yet, but really liked the atmosphere, and they have a ton of scotch!
Love this spot! Hidden gem in the junction and far from a hole in the wall. Can't wait for the re-open
Good beers, whiskey, cocktails, live music and surprisingly amazing food. Plus the staff are great.
Great atmosphere, great drink list. pretty small though. Everytime i go i have to wait.
Great place. Amazing roast beef dinner on Sundays with Yorkshire pudding etc. Good beer, good cocktails, friendly service.
Super skinny, New York-feeling bar with a huge back bar selection, craft draft and excellent eats. I wish I didn't have to drive, or I'd still be there.
Fantastic food (the water buffalo cheese!! yum), great vibes, tasty drinks, and wonderful service! Will definitely be back
Good atmosphere, great food for sharing , excellent on tap beer selection
Great burger. Great specials. Great fries. That thing on the wall is an elk. Medium prices for good quality.
Been coming here for over a year. Amazing Reuben, always good music and never left without a good time remembered. Walk through the door and be seduced by the perfect hole in the wall.
Wide variety of drinks, great service and excellent atmosphere. It actually is a hole in the wall and is quite easy to miss.
Cracking bar, great welcome, lovely atmosphere. Can't wait to return. Would urge any visitors in the area to drop in
Great atmosphere with a live band/singer. Food is surprisingly good!
Quite small but great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Really good fish and great beer selection. Small place but has a good vibe to it.
I've been really happy with all my visits here. Good food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
Really awesome customer service. Doughnuts were good - the bread was ebtter.
The Hole in the Wall is an amazing bar. It has great food, a fine selection of beers and wonderful food. I highly recommend it.
This is a great place to sit and write. The decor is old-school and a trip back in time. Cocktails are delicious.
One of the best place in Toronto if you go in there for brunch everything is great but I would recommend the chicken and waffles
Great beer selection and delicious food. Sunday night dinners are the best!
Great little spot with a wicked drink selection and always a nice playlist on the stereo. Staff is very friendly.
Awesome place. Great food and great selection of spirits for all tastes. High recommend this place.
Duck wings and calamari here are a must try!
My favourite place nearby. Great food as well as drink selection. Cesar's are on point.
Speakeasy atmosphere with chill music. The food was great and Veggie friendly. Simple but done well.
Surprisingly fancy little pub! Great cocktails and whiskey selection. Live music most nights.
Little gem that you will miss if don't know where it is as it is very narrow. Food is different than the traditional burgers and decoration is quite unique
Loved the food and beer selection. Listen to live tunes. Overall 3 out of 5.
A really nice hidden gem in Toronto. I had the duck confit wings here some time ago and they were incredible
The food is outstanding. Service is warm and friendly. Mostly locals coming back again and again.
Food was delicious, and better than your typical bar foods. Ordered oysters, duck wings and the burger.
Great space and awesome menu. Always solid service. I love the brunch...
Nice selection of beer and very well made margaritas. A little bit on an expensive side.
Really adore this place but always next to impossible to get a table or even a seat at the bar. Go early!!
Indeed a hole in the wall. Stumbled upon this place after a sudden rainfall began. Good food and good drinks.
Great food. Cool people. Awesome vibe. Love this place!
P.S. The calamari is too good!
The brunch is really good and the perfect portions to leave full but not wanting to die lol
Awesome space with great music, good beer and cider collection, friendly staff, awesome decor and an extensive spirit list.
food was good, reasonably priced, lots of drinks to choose from, but the service was mediocre and the place was pretty dirty and old looking.
Great food, but the staff are too cool to smile or acknowledge you upon arrival.
My favourite bar in the Junction. Would highly recommend.
Beautiful venue. Beautiful food. Courteous staff. Words are not apt for such an establishment.
If you can get a spot it’s awesome
Great drink selection. Higher end spot than you'd expect, considering the name
Great atmosphere, delicious food and extensive beer selection.
Best watering hole in the West End. Excellent service, drinks and food. Try the curry chicken slaw!
Great vibes and really nice service! We always come here for the buck-a-shuk - highly recommended!
The place is pretty cool. Good food but lacks in variety.
Food and service are fantastic and I've heard some great live music here too.
A great place for brunch and drinks.
Excellent in every aspect of service, atmosphere and food & drinks. If you can only go to one place in The Junction, make it The Hole In The Wall, it is The Junction.
Lovely smoked chicken entrees and a happy laid-back vibe...cool decor and gets hopping even on a Tuesday night.
Great ambiance, but they were definitely having a bad day : service was slow (it was late December and it was very crowded) and the food was very salty. I would still go back
Waited quite a while for the food. Place was near empty but the waitress kept disappearing. Food was very good
Best atmosphere in the Junction. Incredible food, great service and the whiskey sour is perfection.
Friendly staff, good priced drinks, cozy, comfortable and unique atmosphere
Good spot, better for 2-4 people than group.
Food and drink are great and staff is very friendly
Great food, loved the oysters. Great live music as well.
Place that has a lot of personality...Very narrow with high ceiling...Try to get a table at the back where sometimes bands perform on a 6 sq feet stage
Literally a hole in the wall. Super cozy spot!
Tasty pizza and good service!
Toooo all whiskey, scotch and affiliates lovers definitely stop by, food is great and the staff is awesome
Great little pub with solid craft beer choices. Duck wings are amazing!
Good beverages, and a spectacular Reuben sandwich. A bit messy but delicious. Worth the visit

Great food and testy flavours, in the pictures is hard to explain how delicious was the scargots and calamari.
Amazing food drinks beer live music! All you want in a bar with a wicked atmosfear.
Super tiny place on Dundas with fantastic beers and great staff. Be prepared for small spaces though!
This place is what it says it is. The beer selection was all craft and if you like it then your in luck.
Great place for a good drink or spirits, and awesome locale to hang with friends.
Good hambúrguer and good beer. A little bit crowded but they have a good staff
Amazing little hidden bar. Tough to move around inside but that's part of the appeal. Makes it a lot more social.
Hard to find but I guess that caters to the name.
Good atmosphere / pretty good food for a bar.
Amazing food and drinks. Place could use a good clean and some refreshing though.
Great brunch place.
Got the eggs Benedict with smoked trout which was lovely.
