Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria - Annex's Reviews and comments
Had a Margarita pizza and it was delicious! They also have lactose-free cheese and their Patio was small but nice. The staff were friendly, but it took much longer than expected to get my food
A wonderful restaurant. Friendly, fun staff that really goes above and beyond to make their guests happy. Pizza is great! Love the pasta as well! Their Tiramisu is great and made in house! Also tends to have some good craft beer available. Definitely check it out.
All the foods and drinks we tried were amazing! The berries buck cocktail was a perfect summer drink, highly recommended!
Sooooo incredible! The food was absolutely delicious and our server Lauren was so helpful and kind! I’ll be back for sure and recommend this cute restaurant to others .
I had eaten here before going WFPB and it was just, okay. Although, the Margherita pizza was tasty, the crust was too thin and undercooked in the middle, therefore, soggy and not crispy or chewy, at all. You could not pick up a slice without it flopping over. I did really enjoy the Tomato Bisque soup, but, I came here for the pizza and it didn't, WOW, me it merely, meh'ed, me. Hubby said the meatballs were okay, but, he's had better. There's better pizza in the area for the price you pay. I had high hopes for this place and you know what comes with highs hopes? Big disappointments.
I was introduced to this restaurant through my family who love their Waterloo location. Unfortunately our experience was not the greatest at the Annex location.
We placed our order at 1pm and it took almost 50 minutes for our food to be ready. My family thought it was unusual and inquired about the delay. The staff told old there was a take out order with 20 pizzas ahead of us which is why there was a delay. I wish they had told us this ahead of time so that we could have at least ordered apps. Also It just seems unfair that we had to wait so long and a large takeout order was taking precedence.
I ordered the prawns a la diavlo per recommendation by the server when I asked for shrimp pasta dishes. She mentioned the dish came with linguine even though it didn't mention it on the menu. When the dish came out, it had 9 pieces of shrimp and a tomato bisque soup. Apparently it didn't actually come with pasta. I asked for them to toss the shrimp with some pasta and they did. It wasn't too great.
However the tomato bisque and the sangria are really really good. We all enjoyed it the most.
I'm just a bit disappointed at the way they handled our delay (poor communication) and how my server didn't even acknowledge that she recommended a pasta dish which didn't even come with pasta which meant I had to wait even longer. Hopefully this is just a one off customer service experience.
Edit - The owners reached out to me and did explain the situation. They acknowledged they mistakes made and mentioned that they discussed the issue with their team to prevent this from happening in the future. I didn't expect that. I will give them another try based on the way they handled this.
True fun fact: I dined at Famoso Annex every week for a year. Is that weird? No! The pizza is just that good. The only reason the streak ended was because I moved abroad for a year. During that time I got to travel Italy, trying pizza in every city and I never tasted a pizza that rivaled that of Famoso.
Whether you’re vegan or a meat-lover, dining alone or with a large group, the experience is always perfect. As you arrive Dean or Caitlin there to warmly greet you and find you a spot that’s right for you. Rest assured the service is consistently speedy and superb. Adults and kids alike can marvel at the pizzaiolos tossing the dough in the air in the open concept kitchen before the pizza is made and put into the bell-shaped oven.
Everyone I’ve brought to Famoso has loved it, and I have a strong feeling you will too.
The Annex has plenty of great dining spots but me and my friend were craving Italian so we decided to go to Famoso. Let me assure you that I have had better Italian food for the price that we paid. However, for a chain restaurant it’s pretty decent. The waitress was overwhelmed and literally bullied by her managers, their interaction was so passive aggressive. She gave us a seat and told us that they have a $5 dollar special today (for meatballs and margaritas). The salad was nice, but the portion was small. The build-your-own pizza option is such a rip off. The menu is such a scam to be honest, I thought you paid a certain amount for the pizza and then were permitted to a specific number of each category (proteins/ vegetables/ sauces) however, the numbers were actually prices. So be aware of that! The fettuccine Alfredo was ok. Overall, wouldn’t go back.
We had the Abruzzo and Meat lovers pizza which were both delicious. Crust was excellent and toppings were fresh. Just lost 1 point for the drinks that were very heavy on the ice. Would recommend!
We ordered delivery through an app so can’t speak to the physical restaurant, but I was VERY happy with our order. The meatballs were huge and delicious, and the pizza crust is one of the best I’ve had. Our pup also approved of the pepperonis he swiped from a plate ☺️ we’ll definitely order again when we’re in the mood for comfort food!
