Café Boulud's Reviews and comments
Came here for Festive Brunch. Service was excellent. I ordered a coffee and they made sure my cup was never empty. We ordered 3 dishes (one starter, main & dessert) for $74. Everything was delicious.
Been here several times and everytime was a gem. Very attentive servers and distancing was perfect.
Food is always great. Starters are on a smaller portion, lovely to munch on while enjoying drinks and sharing conversations. I recommend the mains with a sharable vegetable dish. Dessert were also good. Overall, nice place to enjoy your meal.
Take me back 😩. It was such an experience. The vibe was very high-end and the price was surprisingly good. There was a very good balance between the service offered and the price.
We came here for the Thanksgiving dinner and had a delightful experience. Café Boulud is one of the best place in Toronto that offers authentic French cuisine. Overall, the food was beautifully presented and really enjoyed the chef's creativity in coming up with innovative dishes. I had the pleasure of savoring the roasted venison loin, which tasted really great. However, one-half of the meat was over-cooked (well-done instead of medium). This is not a big deal since the other piece was cooked to perfection.
As for the service, our wait staff is amazing and the food come in at a perfect pace and timing. Noticing that we are stuffed from the main course, the staff suggested us a 5-10 minutes tea break before proceeding with the dessert. This thought showcase excellent hospitality and care for the customers.
We had a great time with the family eating here. We were in a booth and there is a lot of room between tables. The valet parking now uses txt for notifications which is cool. The menu is a little smaller but everything is done so well. I was told the menu will get bigger in the coming weeks too, which makes sense. Book ahead!
Can’t go wrong with Daniel Boulud. Perfect breakfast experience from service to quality. Worth every penny.
Lovely restaurant! Beautiful presentation and very tasty food. We enjoyed all our dishes.
Came for brunch on a weekend. It costs $52 for a set of 2 dishes and $58 for 3 (which has desserts). Food was great and ambience was also nice. A little crowded on a weekend.
Oysters, Truffle fettuccine and Profiterole. Washed down with some rosé. Perfect lunch after "braving" Toronto's early winter!
When so many of our favorite restaurants have closed due to 50% capacity government mandate and as well many kitchens losing key personnel due to covid-19 isolation restrictions, I had no great expectations of the Four Seasons Christmas Dinner we attended on Christmas Eve. We were just happy that our reservation was amongst the 50% but much to our surprise. we were treated to a feast of mammoth proportions.
The oysters we all chose as starters were of the best quality with accompanying condiments served on individual platters, so deliciously succulent. Christmas is the only time I look forward eagerly to a traditional Turkey Dinner with all the fixings, especially the stuffing that never seems to be enough no matter where I go, but what Chefs Paolo and Chris served up was beyond awesome. Every morsel was a treat to eat, slices of turkey so beautifully tender, cooked to perfection. And if this was not enough the dessert offerings were decadently sumptuous, a perfect end to a perfect meal.
Kudos as well to the reception, wait staff, and everyone we had the pleasure to meet along the way. In this time of doom and gloom, nothing seems to be the same, so it is good to know that at the Cafe Boulud, the more things change, the more they remain the same. Merry Christmas!
The experience was phenomenal, and the dishes are very tasty! This place is on the second floor of the Four Seasons hotel the service was great - had a 3 course branch here and I would definitely recommend their dessert "Hazelnut & Chocolate Profiteroles" for any one as a special treat.
Delicious drinks and food.
I had an amazing ravioli...
Celebrated our wedding anniversary today in this beautiful restaurant located in Four Seasons Hotel.
Our server was Deon and we had the best experience we could possibly hope for. Deon provided excellent customer service and took our experience one a level up.
We had the weekend brunch and really enjoyed the Steak Tartare- just excellent, Tuna Nicoise was ok. The DB Burger was good and Brioche with Foie Gras was excellent. For dessert we had Hazelnat&Chocolat Prifiteroles and Peach Vacherin. Both were amazing.
Sunday brunch was incredible. Beautiful Cafe on the second floor of the 4 seasons hotel. Try the French toast with foie gras.
Great service and elaborate, flavorful dishes. Place fills up quickly so it's best to make reservations for their brunch. Option between two or three courses, coffee is refilled and cocktails are very creative (not included). Not as pricey considering the quality. The charcuterie board, french toast with foie gras and the Hazelnut protiferol were delicious. Socially distanced dining indoors, on the second floor of the Four Seasons
We got thier Valentine's menu and it was THE BEST VEAL CHEEK I have ever had. The meat was so flavorful and the truffle potato was amazing. Came here just to say please make this a regular menu item. I would get it every week. The appetizer tuna was really good too, loved the watermelon. The dessert and afternoon tea was just OK. I found the glaze too sweet.
Second time at Cafe Boulud. Always excellent service and excellent meals. The only issue is that I overeat and I get too stuffed...but it's so good!
Wonderfully attentive and friendly service, food was all very nicely presented, well conceived, and executed. Quite tasty. Happy New Year!
The service was very good! The scallop was a bit too salty though.
Food and service was top notch.
The whole duck cooked 2 ways was so delish and that frozen grapefruit dessert is a must try.
I’m a fan of their NYC locations (pavilion and bar Daniel) and this beautiful spot is always a perfect space to reconnect with old friends over delicious food
Our waiter was amazing. Food was pretty good. I ordered the croque madam and smoked salmon appetizer. Pricing is a bit much but I guess due to location, clientele etc.. they're price the way they are priced. I'd consider coming again purely for the service and atmosphere.
Nice food and service is good. Needed more space on the table.
First time visiting this restaurant and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. A little pricier but the quality speaks for itself.
Absolutely fabulous! Service is on point, food is amazing! The ambiance here is perfect for any occasion! Loved, loved, loved it and would definitely return ❤
Excellent service and beautiful presentation. The oysters were perfect. Ordered the scallops, compliments to the chef for coming up with such a visual and mouth-watering treat. The service was impeccable as the wait staff was fully aware of everyone's personal conditions and catered to that. Overall a great evening.
My boyfriend booked a table at this beautiful restaurant in honour of our anniversary with him.
The menu is perfectly built. Each dish is a pearl of French cuisine with a modern touch. We ordered Beef Tartare, Cheese plate, Duck confit, Scallops, Mashed potatoes and various cocktails. 🥩🧀🦆🥔🌊My boyfriend stuck to Negroni, and I decided to try multiple cocktails. At the very beginning, I ordered the four-seasons cocktail (with crispy maple bacon)🥓 and it was delicious. Another cocktail (I don't remember the name) with an egg white foam🥚and lavender was even better, so I ordered it twice.
At the end of our dinner, our server congratulated us on our anniversary. It was charming, and I felt so happy.
Thank you, Cafe Boulud, for an unforgettable experience.
P.S. The quality of alcohol is good. In the morning I didn't have a headache.
Good presentation of food. Located in the Four Seasons hotel which provided a nice ambience. Tried the 3 course meal they offered. Good selection of first second and third course but that is where the positivity ends.
Food was lacklustre, appetizers nice, mains and dessert terrible. Had a party of 3 where we ordered all different things and shared them tapas style, so we pretty much tried the whole menu. Service was good however.
Good experience. Good taste. On the pricier side and the portions were small. I actually had dinner again after. But a nice experience to take treat your friends or significant other
Food was very good and I know food. Old fashions were great and I know Old Fashions. Service was spot on and I know service. Left very wobbly. Will return.
Fantastic food and experience at winterlicious dinner. The plating, attention to detail, and timing was wonderful. All the flavours and textures of the food came together very well and you could see how much work went into putting all the components together. I particularly liked the desserts - the whiskey ice cream and the chocolate layered cake. The service was very attentive, always keeping glasses filled and removing empty plates very shortly after we'd finished with them. Really enjoyed it!
Wow. Amazing food. The staff was incredible.
Did I mention amazing food yet? Amazing maybe isn't the right word. It's the kind of good that makes your mind feel better. The kind that warms your soul.
Great atmosphere and wonderful customer service.
Nice atmosphere...excellent service and food...a little on the pricy side but I guess that's to be expected given the location
Make Reservations NOW!!! You will not regret it.
Cafe Boulud is the definition of fine dining; from the atmosphere, to the servers (who seemed delighted to be working there), to the food *Chef's kiss*.
I had the pleasure of having brunch there and oh my, I was blown away. One of the best steaks i have ever had, might i add. I would have paid 3 times the cost for such a great overall experience.
Always great service, great food, great ambiance. The kids menu is my daughters favourite in town.
Beautiful calm place with very nice and kind staff, great place for your either official, semi official or casual meeting. Located in the heart of Toronto city, classy Bay Street welcoming you! Cheers
We hosted a lunch event at Café Boulud Toronto and the team were great. Fantastic service and food, all our guests were happy with the execution and it was a pleasure working with Tricia and her team.
Highly recommend!
Thank you so much for giving us a lovely lunch experience. The best French restaurant in this town. Refined taste, beautiful dish up, elegant ambiance, pleasant service, I totally enjoyed all of them.
Food was good. The restaurant was classy and had a nice ambiance. Service was pretty good. Make sure to reserve a table as this place gets busy specially on weekends.
Cafe Boulud was a wonderful experience. The ambience and decor of the restaurant, combined with the deliciously prepared food, and the professional staff made our visit impeccable. Portions were fairly generous in size, and madeleines were complimentary as we were celebrating a birthday. I would without a doubt revisit Cafe Boulud.
Great experience here! The service was awesome and so is the food!
Came here for my birthday with my family (group of 6). We did the 2 course weekend brunch.
I tried some of almost everyone’s dishes - here are my thoughts.
Steak tartare - sooo yummy and great portion size! Love the sauce and capers too, nice touch!
Oysters - super fresh and juicy. Also came with good seafood sauces.
French onion soup - sooo good and comforting! Perfect for a winter day.
Quenelle de Brochet - this was very interesting! It was northern pike mashed up, and then shaped into a tube and poached. Served with the most delicious and rich lobster sauce, and a bowl of rice as well to help soak up the yummy sauce. They actually left the casing on the quenelle by accident but gave me my entire meal for free and lots of lemon madeleines after! Amazing service- I didn’t even notice or say anything about the mistake but they just came over and apologized.
Snapper - came with mussels and shrimp- I didn’t actually try this one but my mom said it was fantastic!
Duck and Waffle - didn’t try this but my dad said while the waffle was ok- the duck egg and duck confit were incredible!
Cake - my sister ordered this cake ahead of time from the restaurant and surprised me! They came out singing and did the whole candle blowing thing. Then they took it back to the kitchen to get it sliced. So nice and the cake was delicious! It was like chocolatey, velvety and had some yummy hazelnut crisps inside. Like a Ferraro rocher.
Madeleines - we were given this as a complimentary desert at the end of the meal due to the mistake on my main dish. So good I ate the entire basket even though I was SO full at this point 😂
Not pictured was the earl grey tea which came by the pot with free refills of hot water, and the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Both were great!
Great spot in Yorkville for lunch. Meat entrees are always excellent beef is always very tender. Great decor too, I'd feel a little out of place in sweats unless you're a celeb staying at the 4 seasons.
If the grapefruit sundae is available its an amazing dessert, not overly sweet, grapefruit sorbet is the best I've ever had.
Expect $100 - $150 for lunch and a couple glasses of vino. For an upscale place the seems to execute on all levels its an experience you should check out.
Best meal I've had in 2 years. Everything was delicious and thoughtfully presented. I will be back again soon!
We were excited to back for our annual Thanksgiving Brunch. And it was exactly how we left off, SPLENDID!
Great food and service. Great cocktail choices.
Good food quality n the service n staff are very high n professional.
But the price is way over your expectations, too pricey.
Excellent service!!! Great food and nice ambiance. A little bit on the pricey side, but worth it.
Great customer service, no hold time when you call them.
Went here with my friend during summerlious, and totally forgot to review...
Great experience with some mistakes happened (messed up dishes) but acceptable.
We ordered the mimosa, and the bartender suggested us to try passion fruit flavour, surprising delicious!
Excellent bar service, always smiling bartenders and servers!
High quality food and drinks (specially fresh garnish), and dining area at the bar is always tidy clean
It's a great place to enjoy the girl's day out, lol.
Only one thing to complaint. We did understand running late for 15 minutes was our fault, and did not even ask for a table. But this cannot be the reason for the Asian looking reception gave us a eye white and furrowed her brow! Excuse me? Another reception gave us a suggestion to sit at the bar, and move to the table later. Smarter and much more professional
This is our #1 favourite restaurants in Toronto! Atmosphere, food, service is all A+.
This was a treat for my friends and me.
We came here for a brunch which is more like a heavy 2 or 3-course fixe price menu.
Service was excellent and food was well made, well balanced.
I got the steak tartar to start and the trout with cauliflower espuma. Really delicious.
The two course meal is 52 bucks but the waiter treated us to a complimentary dessert to share. As I said, service was excellent.
Great service! But I honestly don’t feel the quality is there yet. Presentation could be better
Came for Summerlicious and also ordered some small dishes on the side! Service was amazing except a few of us got lunch menus by accident. No big deal. Got to sit near a celebrity as well! Would definitely come back.
A nice place to dine at. Service was spotty at times. The food was great and they added a personal touch to our dessert as we were celebrating and occasion.
We were here for winterlicious. Service was excellent and staff was attentive. The three-course #prixfixe menu I chose was also very delicious. The smoked salmon rillette was not too salty and went really nicely with the crunchy potato gaufrette. The chicken leg roulade was very flavourful, super juicy and tender. I must say this was one of the best chicken dishes I had in a western restaurant. The pistachio mousse dessert was just out of this world!! The triple chocolate dome was also rich and decadent but I definitely prefer my own pick as I love pistachios! They do charge for hot water (which I found out when I got my bill) so I would recommend ordering a coffee or tea instead of you are looking for a hot beverage. Highly recommend Cafe Boulud as one of the better value "licious" selections to try.
Came for summerlicious this past July with 3 friends and from the appetizer, Cafe Boulud has quickly become my favourite restaurant. Absolutely gorgeous presentation and left feeling quite full and happy.
Steak was excellent. Great service prices high as expected but value for your dollars.
A top notch brunch experience in every respect: from convenient online booking, though to service, food, and ambience. We were here for midweek breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My hubby’s omelet was not very inspired, but neither was there anything wrong with it- and seeing as that’s the most critical thing we can say about the whole experience that’s saying something. Lemon ricotta pancakes were superb and coffee was very well made (plus the beans are a very nice non-acidic blend). A wonderful place for a date or special occasion.
We had a great time with my 3 yr old daughter and husband. She loved kids spaghettis. will visit again soon.
Great service, wonderful Avocado toast with poached eggs. Highly recommended
We love Cafe Boulud and D Bar! It is our favourite spot to celebrate our wedding anniversary every year! Great service and delicious food & drinks! 💜 We highly recommend Nicoise salad! Always delicious!
We tried it for summerlicious week. Not really blown away with all hype around place. Have eaten much tastier cod fish and chocolate cake.
After missed birthday celebrations since the start of the the Covid pandemic, as well as never having yet had fond memories of past birthdays, I decided to give myself a Birthday Bash to remember. Having the Four Seasons Toronto practically at my doorstep, there was no other choice of venue. The Cafe Boulud i often frequent for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Dbar for bar snacks and cocktails. However, this was the first time at hosting an event that I emphasized was to be the ‘Best of the best’. I was not kidding and neither were all the many team leaders with whom I had the pleasure of meeting. They all listened well to my requests and then went about making them a reality, way beyond my expectations. I have hosted and organized numerous events all over the world but never as stress-free and so throughly enjoyable. From start to finish, the plan was executed meticulously, precisely and seamlessly, The food that Chef Colin and his team served us was beyond awesome. They hit the bull’s eye with every course, wine pairings from Julia was brilliant, my Trifle birthday cake to die for, the Best of the best on ever platter. Service was impeccable. All that Pooja, the event coordinator promised was delivered with such amazing grace. It set the scene for the happiest birthday ever. The Dbar team went above and beyond to end the night ensuring that none of us left feeling we were less than the best. Kudos to the Four Seasons Toronto where hospitality is not a word, it’s a promise they keep.
Went in for Brunch/Lunch.
Very nice atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Food wise they are good, but I suppose I was expecting more out of my dish. I also got their burgers and the fries we got were small pieces and not good. Probably will need to try their Benny Corner.
Lovely all around experience. I ordered the beef tartare and pasta. Both were excellent. Would have loved to have gotten better seating though.
Fantastic time. Great food. Great staff.
Winterlicious 2020 Dinner $53
App: Mushroom soup
Main: Seafood (shrimp, fish, mussel)
Dessert: Pistachio Mousse
I'm a huge mushroom and truffle fan so when I saw truffle mushroom soup option on the licious menu I was like I MUST get this. However, the truffle taste is not THAT strong but the soup was delicious overall. I picked the seafood option for main and it was pretty fresh and delicious but the mussels were a bit colder compared to the other seafood on the plate. The fish and shrimp were fantastic tho! The dessert was VERY good, I'm a huge fan for pistachio as well and it did not disappoint. This is my second licious meal at cafe boulud and I still see myself coming back! Staff were great and overall atmosphere was nice.
Excellent food and excellent service. What I would expect from Boulud.
Everything went like a machine. Between the plates and the courses. Im very happy with my lunch.
Though I wasn't wowed as much as i had anticipated. Though the lunch menu is very traditional French cafe style.
The dessert chocolate dome was the wow factor for the afternoon. Excellent texture and the hidden crunch was a perfect balance.
Highly recommend for those looking for a nice treat and high end french cafe.
We'd give Cafe Boulud a 4 out of 5.
Service wise it was great: 5 out of 5. Much better than the service we had gotten at D Bar downstairs
The food itself: the pate and charcuterie board were pretty decent. The burger though was just okay - more of a 3 to 3.5 out of five. The burger at Museum Tavern on Bloor & Avenue is still by far the winner in our books. The fries though were great a 5/5. The duck confit waffle was not quite up to what we wanted - I would say it is more of a 3 out of 5. If you're in Kitchener Waterloo check out Bauer Kitchen Restaurant for their duck confit.
Simply amazing. Outstanding service and amazing food. Steak, duck, and lamb were all fantastic.
Came here for winterlicious and was blown away by how great the food was. The service is on a scale of its own, with the waiters knowing their menu and the glasses always filled. But the food...you really have to visit and experience it.
Amazing food and services. Lively and classy ambience. One of the best restaurant experiences in a while.
It’s nice and service is very good. But price is fairly home high as expected
Definitely one of the best restaurants of Toronto! Came with some colleagues during lunch the service was nice and smooth
Great service and very decent food. Beautiful place to start your morning!
Service was pretty decent.
Restaurant was a bit noisy, and lighting was very low. Decor was nice and had a definite speakeasy flavour. Better for after work drinks than a date, though.
Appetizers were much better than the mains. We had the beef tartar (really good, and prepared to your preference). Cod croquets were very good as well (think fancy fish nuggets). The French onion soup was incredible, and was served with cheesey crunchy bread.
Mains were both fish, pike quesnel and the Chilean bass. Both were well prepared, but the accompaniments were lackluster (various leak vegetables, etc).
Dessert we had baked Alaska which was pretty good and very dramatic (they light it on fire at your table), but was almost too much for the portion size.
Great food and service. Went for lunch had the Croque madame - delish... recommend. Great Covid protocols in place and the valet service saved from circling around busy Yorkville. Note it's $20 flat.
We came here for a birthday dinner and had a great time. We had their cod croquettes, scallop main, and veal dish. Everything was fantastic. On our server's recommendation we got their profiteroles for dessert which is served very impressively.
I have one gripe with this place which is that a single shot of espresso should not cost $8
I went here for the last weekend of Summerlicious 2018, and I mostly enjoyed my experience.
While the food was incredible, the service was satisfactory (Our waiter gave us cold coffee, however, he comped the cold coffee and replaced it with warm coffee for free) and it was very noisy. Overall, I would definitely come back here for Summerlicious or for a regular meal, however, I will try to come when it is less busy.
I recently moved into the residences at the four seasons and just had my first visit to Cafe Boulud. Everything was first class - from covid protocols, to customer service, to the food and drink. We shared two appetizers (wild shrimp and calamari) and 3 mains (duck confit, rotisserie chicken and a mushroom pasta special). We polished it off with profiteroles and raspberry chocolate lava cake. I'll be returning soon..If you want to spoil yourself and have a 5 star experience, this is right up there with the best I've had in the city from a food experience but well exceeds others from a customer service experience. Tip - get the bread when they ask and try the purple negroni - tasty and very smooth.
We really like the place, we came here with my mom who is visiting from Spain and she liked it. We enjoyed the lunch and the atmosphere inside. The service was really good.
We ordered "patatas bravas"; ot was really good, but not as good as the original one from Spain.
Amazing service, excellent pandemic controls, wonderful food. It was so nice to eat in a restaurant with linen napkins again! 🤗
Epic winterlicious dinner. Service and food was spot on. Very nice ambiance as well.
Great vibe, great food, great service. 10/10
Went here for breakfast, great food and great service!
Went for lunch, ordered the charcuterie (the bread is surprisingly addictive), steak tartare (highly recommend), the half chicken (juicy and well done) and the grapefruit givre (also recommend)
This place was located inside the Four Seasons Hotel so check in with the front concierge and they'll direct you upstairs after screening.
Ambience is upscale and would recommend casual chic wear.
Service was attentive and prompt.
Prices are definitely on the higher end but the quality is there.
Overall, 5/5.
Dinner is classic comforts. Raspberry & elderberry martini & halibut. Filet mignon. Shrimp cocktail. DJ’s set floats up to the terrace from D-Bar.
Brunch is prefix / eggs benny and all the works..
Brought my buddy here for his birthday and we loved this place. All dishes were great, our server Edie was friendly and very attentive. Recommend the duck confit and the baked Alaska (obviously not French but we ordered it as my buddy's birthday cake), Duck was crispy outside and juicy inside; the baked Alaska was flambéed. Definitely will go back.
Lovely atmosphere and food. Had the winterlicious dinner menu and was happy with the food. The highlight for me was the main/entrée, but the starter and dessert was good as well. The rest of my dinner party praised their meals (Starters: salmon, soup. Main: sea bream Dessert: mousse, ice cream) as well from start to finish. Service was good, quick with filling water etc. I also liked the pace of our plates being served and removed.
The food, service, and atmosphere at Café Boulud made for a very pleasant dining experience. The selection of pâté on the small charcuterie board was presented beautifully and tasted just as good as it looked. The foie gras was smooth and luxurious and generous in proportion. The duck confit was cooked perfectly, but was maybe cured too long, or with slightly too much salt. The saltiness may have been done purposely though, as the dish was served with grilled apricots and combining the two in a single forkful made for a perfectly balanced bite. Overall an excellent dining experience!
Boulud is a perfectionist. That is why giving only 3 stars which for any other restaurants would be a 4 star.
4 issues:
- menu at the entrance show price of $52 for brunch. In the restaurant: $66. Because it is the festive brunch!
- one oyster did not look right - at all. They changed it but then brought the wrong type.
- main course was extremely heavy. Unbalanced. The kind that you don’t have a brunch (food gras, heavy sauce that hide all savors etc). The dish I selected was pushed by our wait staff. I got myself convinced but wonder if there was an ulterior motive. See picture below.
- brought the bill without us asking. Usually does not happy at Daniel Boulud’s restaurant.
Otherwise the bread was amazing ...
Not what I have come to expect from this great chef.
This restaurant is in the Four Season hotel and it is definitely a really good restaurant to check out. I was there for the Sunday brunch and the price is reasonable being $59 for 3 courses which also includes coffee, tea or juice. I ordered the orange juice and it is definitely freshly squeezed so most likely no added sugar. The service was amazing, very attentive service and always says thank you when you compliment anything about the restaurant. My friend and I ordered a the steak tartare, charcuterie board, eggs & salmon fume, Beaujolais sausage & egg, sorbet and chocolate millefeuille. All I gotta say is, I felt like I have almost returned to Paris! Quality of food is definitely there and very tasty! Highly recommend checking this place out!
Love this place for a casual meal!
