Bon Temps Cafe's Reviews and comments
Great meal and awesome atmosphere. Voodoo Hour from 4-6pm is definitely worth going for. We had a couple drinks off the menu and the Bang Bang Shrimp. Battered shrimp with a bit of kick.. They were delicious! Blackened Salmon and Seafood Creole were melt in your mouth meals. Can't wait to go back!! Two thumbs and two big toes up for his place! 😋
Got the chance to have dinner at Bon Temps recently. We ordered the Seafood Creole and Jambalaya. The food tasted really good! The atmosphere was warm and the service was good. Will definitely have to go back to this place again for their seafood boil!
OUTSTANDING FOOD!!! Honestly, by far the best creole food i have had anywhere, so much delicious flavour and fresh food. Wow. Very reasonably priced and worth every penny. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, inside the restaurant is gorgeous too. Nailed everything. Thanks guys!!!
This was a great experience for me. Hands down one of the best restaurants in town! Great ambiance. Wonderful location. Food tastes awesome. And great choice of drinks.
Servers are helpful and always smiling, makes you feel welcomed ! Food may be a bit pricey but when it tastes this good, u do wanna pay !
A Must visit in toontown!
Went with a friend to check out someplace new to eat that we had never been before and we settled on Bon Temps. I had been maybe 6 years ago, but not recently.
The food was platted very well, delicious, and priced well for the quality. Service was really good and found the atmosphere unique and relaxing. Although I’m not a seafood person, and the menu is seafood heavy, I would definitely go back to try some other menu items that looked delicious.
I can't say anything but good things about this restaurant. From all the main courses to desert this is a wonderful place! Something for everyone including the creole and Cajun dishes
Best Oysters in Saskatchewan.... definitely try the Oyster Shot!!! The servers/bartenders are so friendly and accommodating!! Happy Hour specials are out the door!! Recommend the Habenro Margaretia and the Bang Bang Shrimp!! You cant go wrong with trying this place......
Very good food and atmosphere. Service can be a bit condescending. One of my fave places to find seafood in Saskatoon though… something I greatly miss while living in the prairie.
Fantastic atmosphere, great service, astronomical food. This is going to be the place I go to dinner every time I come through Saskatoon. Definitely worth a detour to get dinner.

This was third time I have been here. I always enjoy the food. It is presented well and taste great. I had the fish fry and the charcuterie board. I look forward to eating there again. I do find the service a bit slow, but if they keep making great food, I am happy to wait for it.
I’d be back for drinks but not the food. Bon temps is a creole style restaurant with good decor and good food, but quite greasy food overall (maybe fried is creole). The 1960’s music has to stop though, really messed the ambiance! Haha We ordered the fire bird and waffle with chilli oil and fish and chips, spiced bourbons and raspberry smashes. The fire bird was indeed very spicy but we could have had the oil on the side. The fish and chips were very bland, the batter crisp (lots of oil soaked in) but likely offered for those not wanting creole spice! The gravy was weird, I dipped a couple fries, couldn’t place the sweet taste of it and abandoned any more. The Mac and cheese app was bland except for the jalapeño cheese and also very oily. Shrimp bruschetta was good! Spiced bourbon was fantastic, garnished well, spicy and strong. The raspberry smashes were soooo good as well. Not too sweet, well minted, tons of ice and a strong vodka taste. $14 a drink though!
Went for Sunday night dinner with some relatives, had a very good experience. The food was very well portioned, very filling and very tasty. I ordered the Fire Bird and was warned it was one of their spicier dishes, but it was manageable and still very flavorful.
The staff was attentive but not overbearing and offered great suggestions. The overall vibe of the restaurant was very cool, lots of cool wall decor and good music. Overall a must try in Saskatoon.
Can't believe it took me 7 years to check this place out. Always seemed like a bit of a gimmick but was I ever wrong. Great vibe, great food.
Went the other night for happy hour and oyster night, absolutely delighted! Great food and service, we will definitely return.
I always enjoy their food as well as the broad variety of options they have... My country fried steak was Delicious!!!
This restaurant is unique in Saskatoon for it’s NOLA vibe and Cajun food - that and oyster Wednesday night special is the only thing that I would go back to and holding it at 3 stars. Terrible service, clarify which menu you’re ordering from and check your bill!
A group of us went twice recently, both times during voodoo happy hour (4-6). There was maybe max 4 other groups of 3-4 people by the tail end of happy hour when we were trying to order.
Friday night: the waiter who served us was personable and we liked. He had to clarify if we were ordering from the happy hour menu. Is that not the point of advertising it both outside the front and verbally telling us? Then told us our first drink is actually doubles and billed us for it. It just seemed shady to direct people to the happy hour menu and pricing only to clarify it after.
Wednesday night: we ordered the oyster special we saw written on the board outside the front restaurant but the waitress was countering saying there’s no specials and it must be another place. As a server, you should know your own restaurant’s specials. She also didn’t check in or us and was short with us at the few times we ordered. No how’s the night going, plans after, suggesting any other food or drinks. When finally flagging her down for the bill, she stood in front of our table and stared at us and said “so what’s up”. Very odd experience.
Awesome food, great ambiance and amazing customer service.
Amazing experience every time. The staff are top notch! The food is exceptional and the atmosphere is unlike any other place in Saskatoon. We have had several items that are offered on the menu and have always been very pleased! If you are looking for a unique vibe and an amazing night out this is a must! It will not disappoint!
Bon temps was a delightful dining experience in Saskatoon. Definitely a stand-out Caesar and very tasty dishes. One in our party claimed the stuffed French toast was the best she'd ever had. The burger was huge, flavorful and properly dressed. To to it off, there was awesome, relaxing bluegrass music while we dined. However service was stretched thin and was slow. Still, a pleasant day.
An interesting Creole? decor with 3D relief musicians (jazz band) on one wall and metallic crawfish & lobsters on another. Several different shrimp dishes were on special (the Bang Bangs were the favourites at our table) and a wide selection of tasty dishes including Louisiana ribs (not too sweet for a change) Blackened Chicken, Jambalaya, and an excellent (if surprisingly mild) Creole dish, just to name a few. But despite the excellent food, it was Kelly, our always smiling, helpful and efficient wait staff's exceptional service that really turned the evening into a truely memorable anniversary dinner at a reasonable price! Highly Recommended!
It was the first time eating at Bon Temps an it was Fabulous. The food was great an came fast. The server was very friendly an helpful. Defiantly would go again have already recommend it to people. I didn't find the prices to bad an the serving of food was good. LOVED the picture made of metal by the Bathroom.
Thx for making those fancy drinks when you were extremely busy. They took 15 min to make and I got 2 because it was amazing 👏.
I just left on Wine down Wednesday. Unfortunately when I ordered the seafood creole the rice came uncooked at 8pm as they were closing the kitchen. Settled for fettuccine in lieu of rice and was not the same southern dish. Pretty disappointed as I used to come here every trip and now not sure if I'll be back.
So sad.
The raspberry smash drink was perfect, also this place has one of the best loggers in town.
For food try beef brisket and bang bang shrimps, both taste delicious 👌
This is one of my favorite places. More often than not, the energy is amazing. I really enjoy the cocktails. My crab cakes were burnt today but my meal overall was not terrible. The service was unusually slow today though. Even though only 6 tables were working. Still, our server was courteous and our order was correct.
Beautiful place with an amazing atmosphere and decoration. Food was delicious and the price was not bad for the quality and portion you get. Service was amazing and drinks were delicious. Highly recommended!
Our party of three grabbed lunch at Bon Temps on a Wednesday. Service was prompt and courteous. The food was delicious and came in large portions. I had the Big Messy sandwich with a side of gumbo. Restaurant was clean and well decorated - extra points for the delightful bathroom! I'll be back to Bon Temps the next time I'm in Saskatoon.
I've been wanting to come here ever since I saw it on "You gotta eat here!" And I have to say, it did not disappoint. The best blackened chicken I've ever had, it was juicy, delicious, and the perfect spicy crust with a to die for lemon butter sauce. We also tried the dessert trio, but next time I would skip the trio and just get the bananas foster, which was the best of the 3. Definitely coming back here next time I'm in Saskatoon.
This is a great spot for great cajun style food. Food and Service is always great.
Went on a Wednesday night after dinner time and it was pretty busy.
I ordered a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo as my starter. It was flavorful, chunky, and a tad spicy which was not bad considering it was only $4.
I the ordered The Fire Bird as my main... Now I wasn't expecting it to be that good and I wasn't starving or anything. Chicken was unbelievably crispy, crunchy, and juicy while the waffle was crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. You can add maple syrup for an extra $1.75 which I did and I also asked for extra spicy sauce. Together they made this delicious combination of spicy, smoky, and sweet. The pickles on top also add a very interesting texture and sourness to the whole meal which confused my tastes buds at first but in the end they thoroughly enjoyed it. All for $21 and the portion was not disappointing. I wasn't so full that I hated myself but I could still squeeze dessert in.
For dessert I ordered the mud pie. Wasn't at all what I expected. It wasn't good but it wasn't bad either. It was cooked in a cast iron mini cauldron and I could taste some of the burnt bits of cake mix. That wasn't very pleasant and I didn't think it was worth the calories so I only hate half of it.
Service was nice, and somewhat fast. I was acknowledged right away and received service within minutes.
I had been here for lunch before and ordered the deep fried prawns Po Boy. The baguette in my opinion was too thick and tough but everything else in it was amazing. If they changed the baguette for a fluffier inside with a crunchy outside, it would be perfect!
In summary, I enjoyed my meals and the atmosphere. I will definitely return again and suggest it to my friends.
Well the band was awesome to listen to. The food was good, been to New Orleans so side by side I give it 4 out of 5 stars, only cause once you have eaten in New Orleans, well go there and you will understand lol.
Service was very good as well, all waitresses check on how things were, beverage never empty.
Good crew here, good food!
We did the boil and it was amazing, so much food my whole family loved it.
Jambalaya. The food was good. I did regret the extra grated cheese on top though. The crawfish were not fresh - expected though given were in the middle of winter. The mud tart was not too sweet which I appreciated. Surprised with this Saskatoon stop!
Recently had our wedding reception at Bon Temps and everyone was so lovely and accommodating - I would recommend them for a reception regardless covid or not. The first time we met with them to plan our evening, it finally put the excitement back into our wedding day. Great service, amazing food, and tasty drinks! 10/10 experience. We have been for supper as well many times prior and will easily go back in a heartbeat!
Amazing Ribs
Was looking for something new in the city the other night and came away with a new favorite restaurant!
I had the "Fire Bird" which is a cajun spicy fried chicken on a waffle with a mix of chillis and pickles to top it off. The dish put off a good amount of heat and the waffle was a great pairing. To help with the heat I tried the Bourbon and Blueberries Lemonade which was really tart and tasty.
The bartender Nick was phenomenal and amounted to a great night out.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere!! Would definitely recommend!
Absolutely a place to visit! Great service and atmosphere! Live jazz from locals! A++
Amazing food, amazing staff. It was an overall great experience.
Just stopped in here as a spur of the moment. Will definitely come back. Great food and pretty authentic too
Their sandwiches won't be found anywhere else. So delicious and fresh
Another great experience! Food was Delicious!! Atmosphere is a very nice dinning experience and the decor is fabulous! Will definetly be returning
The restaurant was a quick walk from our hotel and a nice find. Our waitress was friendly, super efficient, and helpful. We had local beers, a really great seafood dish, the devil's chicken, fun appies, and a dessert. They were all great which is like winning the restaurant lottery.
Food and drinks are amazing. I recommend trying everything at least once! The cocktails are good too ☺
We always love the atmosphere and food. Coming here for our wedding anniversary was the best way to celebrate this special day.
The food was amazing! The atmosphere was welcoming and quiet for having such an open front on a busy street, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I am so glad I saw this restaurant on "You Gotta Eat Here" and I will eat here the next time I am in town!!
Great experience. Excellent food and desert. Reasonable price.
Had a late lunch here this afternoon and boy was the wait to eat worth it. We had Acadian shrimp and my oh my, I wanted to lick the plate clean, the Acadian butter the shrimps are drenched in is finger licking good. We ordered the blackened chicken to share and had a slight mix up. I did mention that my friend was gluten-free but the server brought us the regular blackened chicken by mistake. The plates went to the wrong tables, it happens, no biggie. My friend was half way through his chicken breast when our server frantically came over to give us the news. Luckily, my friends allergy isn’t that bad. I do have to commend the server for letting us know right away and making it right. She brought out the gluten free chicken breast a few minutes later and also didn’t bill us for the entree. It was a very kind gesture. Mistakes happen but it’s how people recover from them and this server was genuinely apologetic of her mistake and did everything to ensure we were okay and satisfied.
If you are craving Cajun cuisine, this is the SPOT! I can’t wait to go back and try different food items on the menu. Oh and the corn bread, delish!
Excellent food. The wait staff was awesome. We left with satisfied tummies
Great food, they know how to season and spices their food, also expected aesthetic. Prices were ok and service was fantastic.
Such good food. The brisket was amazing, the fancy potatoes were amazing, the chicken and waffles were amazing. Just so good.
Beautiful spot downtown! Service was great and fabulous Southern comfort food. Will be recommending to friends. I had the Mamous spicy chicken sandwich and gumbo, delish!
Fantastic food and atmosphere. The Peacemaker Po Boy was amazing and the potato salad was cold, creamy and delicious, just the way it is supposed to be. Make sure to order an Old Fashioned, you won't be disappointed
The food is always top notch and the atmosphere is absolutely unique. The crazy experience of the washrooms alone are worth the visit, and I can't say I've ever said that before.
Excellent meal and great atmosphere! Highly recommend for a family with teens. Lots of choices for everyone. Delicious food with ample portions and though a little pricey, still acceptable. Excellent service. Extensive variety of on tap beer. The lighting is dark, but the copper metal ceiling is stunning. Live entertainment on Tues. Not kid friendly.
Delicious cajun food, excellent serve and the music and whole atmosphere was great. Would come again
Land and Sea boil was great. Sausage was a bit under so we sent it back and they cooked a new batch that was good, we ate it all. Coffee, drinks, and desert were good too. Enjoyed the live music.
My husband and I came here last night and it was amazing food with great flavour took a while to get food but was so worth it !
We both had the brisket and shared an order of nachos and enjoyed every bite definitely need to check this hidden gem of ur in city
Amazing food and bourbon selection. One or the best places I have visited.
One of my favourite restaurants in the city! The seafood boil, jambalaya, ribs, and shrimp étouffée are all fantastic options. The staff are usually great as well.
Food was great.
My kid even ate crawdad tail (after playing with it)
Live music, spacious and dim lighting. The food was delicious especially the pork belly in honey habanero sauce. Must order!
The food was delicious! The service excellent! We went on a Friday evening and we didn't have to wait for a table at all. Perfect! 😊
Great live music. Great food. Great decor. Great prices. What more do you want baby momma.
Good food , spacious, very good interior decoration, friendly staff.
Love this place. Trendy crowd, cool atmosphere, great music. There was 14 if us for the cajun crawfish boil which was a great experience. Delicious gumbo.
Really nice atmosphere. Most everyone enjoyed their food. I had the seafood creole and wasn't crazy about it. The sauce was too thick for my liking (like a thick spaghetti sauce), which the waiter did tell me thou, and it was very sweet , which I didn't like. My friend got the jambalya, which I tried and I have had better for sure. Many people were eating meat dishes and seemed to really like them. I would go back, but try something else. Service was good. Special for wine bottles on Wednesdays.
Food was good service was awesome, little disappointed paying 2.50 for a small cold cup of gravey .
The service is the best, they recommend good and tasty meals on the menu.
Great service. Nola-ish atmosphere. Awesome service. But the food was quite ‘okay’. We went here after watching New Orlean’s street food documentary and we’re not satisfied with the results. Taste was ‘meh’, creole dish wasn’t really had that good ol’ creole taste. We liked the Po Boy’s french bread and the shrimp. Brisket beef looked like chunky corned beef. Cocktails taste good and they have 9mile stout. They also put their beignets onto a bed of powdered sugar which we found ‘this is way worse than a stale timbit’ I would recommend their Po Boy and that’s all.
Had an awesome experience here. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere - tables, art, and music. Great Happy Hour. Will definitely be back.
Food was amazing. Service was good. Atmosphere is cozy.
Whenever I'm in Saskatoon, I make time to visit this wonderful restaurant with some incredible Cajun food! Try the Gumbo, the crab cakes and save room for the beignets!
Good atmosphere and better food.
The place was a little loud for me, but the five stars is because the staff were awesome and the food incredible. The best blackened chicken I've ever had was what I ate tonight. Incredible flavour and very tender. I had that with their take on a Ceasar salad with in house made dressing. So good! Plus what a great Ceasar cocktail to wash it down with and an incredible fresh made mud pie for dessert!
Worth the visit I'd say.
Had such a great experience at Bon Temps...the food was great, drinks as well (I'm picky with how what I like is made) and the service fantastic!! Memorable time, for sure. I plan to visit more often, especially now that I have made a connection with the staff. My server Amy was a doll and really "made" the night for me. Been making effort, staying devoted to supporting our restaurants as much as I can during this time of adapting we are in. :)
Very delicious and unique and enjoyed it very much. I'm in love with the simplicity of the meal. Less is more....
High Five!
We had a great experience with friends. Great atmosphere! Great service! I am not a shrimp eater normally but, the Bang Bang Shrimps ....I would go back just for those! Healthy portions throughout to say the least. If you are hungry, go for the rack of ribs. Lots of meat, nice Cajun spice and not too much sauce....very tasty. One disappointment though was the 10 oz brisket. Although tasty, 1st, it is not 10 oz, 2nd, half of the brisket is a big blob of fat. Our party was all in agreement that this would never be ordered again. If you are on a keto diet and you like your fat, go for it!
We will definitely return to try the rest of the menu.
Food and service were awesome!! Very highly recommend this place!!
Decor, atmosphere, service
Have been here multiple times and can't say enough good things about it. Looking forward to trying their seafood in a bag soon 😋
Great place to eat. The staff are very friendly. I also admire the cooks, they are very skilled and professional.
Fantastic meal! I've been to Saskatoon on a few occassions. And this is the best meal I've had so far! I asked the Waiter for his suggestion which was the Firebird Chicken & Waffles. A bit more on the expensive side, but the taste and portion along with perfectly crispy Chicken was worth it.
Oh yeah. This place has EXCELLENT Southern style food. Friendly staff, cool decor. I'm definitely coming back for my Cajun fix.
Awesome brunch. Got the French toast, and it was amazing. Not too sweet either!
Great food.. Friendly service
Everything I've ever had here I love! Tried the ribs tonight....damn.
Very tasty new Orleans style bistro.
Great place to eat drink and meet with friends.
