Tried Union Local for a dinner out and it was nice that the street was blocked off so that there was more space available. The food tasted good in terms of flavoring. Fried tomatoes were unique but a similar style to onion rings. Only disappointment was the fried chicken burger which had a piece of chicken that was so thin and small that you can barely see it in the picture…

Place was busy and as soon as we got there I could tell why. Drinks were clever and tasty. The Nashville chicken sandwich was amazing. Fries were surprisingly well done for a bar/speak easy. And to top it off our service was super friendly and helpful.

Ordered the shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles and the breakfast and it was delicious. We were so happy as the food hit the spot. For drinks we had Not a Cesar and So, Apparently - both were so creative and amazing flavours coming together. Must try!

They have a small menu for brunch and a lot of chicken items. I got the Shrimp & Grits but the dish wasn’t what I expected. I thought the potatoes would be more of a mash than small chunks. The taste was average but they could do better than give me 3 shrimps for a main.

Wonderful!! The food was all fantastic - definitely get yourself a side order of that cornbread it is delicious. Everything was so yummy, I'm not usually a real person but I tried theirs and it was so good I'd do it again. The coating on the deep fried chicken was the nicest I've ever had. The staff were delightful, the ambiance is fun and exciting. All around delightful experience.

Ordered the fried chicken, it was phenomenal. There was a bit of a mix up with it about how I wanted it prepared, however it got taken care of very promptly by the owner himself (at least I'm pretty sure he was the owner). Overall the food and service quality were nothing short of extraordinary. Come to eat and drink here, if you want to spend your time and money the right way!

Been here a bunch of times. Most recently was at a party in the speakeasy. It was amazing. The staff were super attentive and the drinks were excellently crafted.

I had the Nashville spiced crispy seitan sandwich and it was unreal!!! If you like spicy order this now! It has quit a kick. So delicious. I will be ordering it again for sure. 5 stars!!!

I’ve been here a couple times now and have had great experiences! The food is always delicious and I love the different drink options. The complimentary beignets they serve when you go for brunch are amazing and they had different sauces and toppings for them the two times I went. I also like the homemade ketchup!

Absolutely incredible food along with great service and an amazing ambience! The smoked duck confit, Lamb dish, and the northern Char were insane! Probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Also went back for brunch and was equally blown away! The speakeasy downstairs called “The Staff Room” has a great vibe too! You can order food downstairs as well, so not a bad place if the main dining hall is packed! Definitely need reservations here so make sure to do that the day before as it fills quickly. Bottom line is make sure to eat here when you’re in Ottawa!

Excellent food and drink menu. Verrrry spicy Nashville chicken, excellent fried green tomatoes, the cornbread was a bit too rich with the butter (and too much butter), but otherwise delicious. The beer menu options were excellent. Superb service, too

Went for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Burger was amazing, and huge portions Chicken and waffles were perfect Shrimp and Grits looks small as a plate, but was super satisfying and the flavours were out of this world! We also managed to get a free taste of some fried donut holes with a lemon custard sauce 😍🤤

Had an excellent Sunday Brunch at Union Local 613. Staff were fast and very friendly, great with recommandations on the menu, both drinks and meals. Tables are spaced apart, sanitisation stations both outside and inside. Physical distancing protocols are in place. QR code scanable menu. Great atmosphere, better food. Can't go wrong with this pick. We were able to make a reservation ahead of time whoch also doubled as our contact tracing and seamless sitting.

Ok so heres the thing. The service is incredible. But the beers and cocktails? Amazing. Yet the ambiance and the vibe were also 10/10. I hate it here. dont go. Wow. Love it. Terrible dont go here unless you want an incredible bar with good service. yucky!!!

Menu could be more descriptive (so ask questions) - ordered the ribs, got ribs, no fries or anything, ordered the fried green tomatoes, didn't list a coating on them. The food was fantastic, server was great, speak easy atmosphere was cool.

Great ambiance and excellent food. Definitely worth the visit to get some of the cocktail options but the red wine sangria was delicious. Tried the specials for the day: Appetizer - scallops and pork belly with collared greens Main - sous vide rack of lamb with potato Had the pannacotta with raspberries for dessert off the main menu. Try to get seats in the main dining area. Felt cramped in the hallway seats next to the bar.

Had an absolutely incredible experience for brunch. Tried the pulled pork with poached eggs as well as the fried chicken and waffles, both were out of this world. (Loved the spicy maple syrup!) The drinks were so delicious too! The bourbon lemonade was amazing but the Union Root Beer stole the show. Had to ask for the recipe in which our server provided happily. Would recommend Union Local 613 to anybody looking for a brunch stop in Ottawa!

Awesome location with an excellent and large patio for outdoor dining! I ordered the nuts (soaked in salt water for 24 hours) and did not enjoy them, but my sister really did. The vegan seitan sandwich was SO TASTY!!! It tasted just like a chicken sandwich and I couldn’t have eaten it faster. Wish I had gotten the French fries instead of the nuts—next time. Staff were kind and made sure safety protocols were being adhered to.

Me and my husband really liked this place. Food was amazing and fresh. Cocktails menu was unique and tastefully crafted. Great atmosphere and great service too! Try to get a seat in the speakeasy section in the basement behind the bookcase door. Kinda nice and cozy down there. It’s been awhile since we went there So today, my husband will bring his bosses and collages from German to visit the place. I’m so sure they’ll have a great time like we did.

Great service, the steamed peanuts were interesting, do recommend to try them. I took the beef steak medium, it was tasty. They have an assortment of in house drinks, something for everyone.

Food was delicious and would recommend, but I have to note that our server was really rude which was upsetting. would not leave ratings like this, but when all we did was get up to ask for the bill as we weren't sure whether to pay at the table or at the front, he got snappy with us.

Enjoyed the visit: trendy environment with good service and decent food. On the pricy side. Steak frites; steak was cooked to order and was good, fries were decent. Mushrooms; good. Corn bread: ok. Gluten free crispy chicken; tender and juicy.

Really nice interior where everything is in mason jars. The food is delivered on trays. Although food is limited to a few options, each one is amazing! It probably makes the decision making easier. There is an extensive drink list and the bartenders/mixologists are amazing at custom drinks (virgin or alcoholic). Best to make reservations here as there aren't a lot of spots and a waitlist is common.

This used to be one of my favourite places in the area but wow has it ever deteriorated…The service was truly horrible. They were very kind but my father waited 30 mins to get his beer and I had to follow up asking for it twice. Also, our pork dish arrived completely cold, I tried to order a 2nd drink twice and wasn’t able to flag someone down and we waited 15 mins to have our dishes picked up after being done (we stacked them and covered them in napkins- I promise it was obvious we were done). The menu has become very small and simple- most dinner options are a form of meat with plain white wonder bread. The fried chicken, hibiscus margarita and corn bread were incredible. Ribs were a dry and pork was underwhelming. I’d recommend going for the chicken and great cocktails but go loaded with patience.

Great spot. A friend suggested we check this place out for brunch and they were not mistaken. A very interesting brunch selection. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was cool and the service was great. Nice little patio area as well.

A very good spot it Ottawa. This charming place will serve you great food. Although on the pricey side the quality of both the food and service justifies it. It's just one of those places you feel right at home.

Okay place. Very hipster. Only went because a friend who was visiting Ottawa wanted to check out the downstairs Speakeasy. I've lived in Ottawa over five years and never went there. Don't plan on going again. Extremely hipster drinks, such as the photos I posted, they have some kind of grass/weed chunks in it.

Chicken and Waffles, amazing! Brought my mother in law out for Mother's Day brunch (day early). Everyone loved their food. 2014 at Union 613 is where my wife and i had our first Bourbon Lemon-aid, and we have been drinking them since. We had a Bourbon Pink Lemon-aid yesterday...yum! We also had an amazing reese puff infused rye with Maple Syrup. Our server was fantastic and brought me a free beer sample. Anyone who offers me free booze is good in my books!

Trendy spot, unique, ethical, three levels of hipster decor. Mouth watering creative menus, killer presentation, but haven't ever ordered the same thing twice. Except Monday Night tv Dinners, they're awesome.

The service was really good. Server was super nice and helpful with everything. The food was great and really tasteful. It was pretty busy and lively which is always a plus. Even though this is a small restaurant, we did not feel cramped at all. It was quite cosy.

Visiting from out of town, this was recommended by a coworker. We sat on the patio, it was a really nice. Food selection is unique, we ordered the duck tartare and fried green tomatoes to share. Both were delicious. I ordered the rainbow trout entrée, the fish was cooked perfectly with crispy skin and the veggies in the cous cous were flavorful. Overall they had a good atmosphere, their cocktail menu was impressive even though we didn't have any. Highly recommended!

Location: Downtown. We scored a parking spot just around the corner, but I think that might be a rare occurence! The place: We stopped by here for lunch on a Sunday (yesterday) and didn't have to wait for a table. I think their interior dining area is closed so I didn't see inside - we stat out on the patio, which is relatively small. Tables facing the street have a trellis so you don't see people walking by, which I quite liked. The goods: I tried the fried chicken and asked if I could swap the waffle for fries and it wasn't a problem. The chicken was great - the maple glaze was so good - it had the perfect combination of sweetness and spiciness (which I didn't expect!). The home fries were also great though I would have liked a bit more seasoning. I tried their ginger beer but felt that the ginger was lacking. You couldn't really Tate the ginger. My friend ordered the burger and was happy with it. Service: OK Price point: With taxes and tip, both orders came out to $54 in total.

I love this place in general, but tonight really sealed the deal for me! We ordered on a delivery site right before they opened, and received a couple of errors along with a really rude delivery guy. The restaurant took our call immediately and made us a brand new order along with a few extra boiled peanuts. Thank you so much for the outstanding service and food. 10/10.

My first time here and it was great! Shannon was an awesome server and Éric was super welcoming. Peanuts, fried chicken, kale salad, and beers were delicious! I recommend the mango sour beer. Not what I expected and would definitely order again. See you soon!

Got takeout tonight. Best takeout we have had since the Pandemic started. Restored my faith in good meals to go. I loved the peanuts and Nashville hot wings (wings were very flavourful and had quite the kick). Bahn Mi interpretation was delicious too. All was hot, reasonably priced and delicious. Way to go Union!

OMG so good. I went on Monday night for the TV dinner special. It was super tasty and filling. I only wish the dessert (which was a cheesecakey beinet) was bigger. I could have ate an entire tray of those things. 🤤

We went on a late Saturday night for some drinks. Even after 1am there was a couple options for finger food, which we enjoyed very much. You have to try the fried tomatoes! Our server (Shannon I think) was awesome and knowledgeable, also very patient as some of us were pretty rowdy. Thank you so much Shannon :)

Went here recently despite having concerns about patios in general due to covid. I was pleasantly surprised by all the steps that union took to make sure the visit was safe and enjoyable. Plenty of space between tables, two heaters for our one group, good quality hand sanitizer, extra masks for forgetful people and to top it all off, our server, Joel was great! Highly recommended.

I had heard good things about Union and was glad to get the chance to check the place out. The food was excellent - we started with the pickled Fried Green Tomatoes and they were exceptional. Crispy, fresh and tart - a real treat. For the main course we had the Southern Fried Chicken and the sides were Sweet Potatoes and some Grits, and added the Corn Bread. Real comfort food and every dish was delicious. I'll be going back.

Really wanted to like this place so tried again. Appreciate the house-made ginger beer but it was flat and could use a little kick. The fried chicken was mushy and the spice mix was just ok. Kale salad was very fresh. Just not worth premium pricing.

Amazing place to go for drinks! They have three ‘bars’. A main space on the ground floor and patio, an incredible looking Speakeasy in the basement, and a hip space upstairs. Tristan was extremely courteous and gave great service. Wide array of drinks.

Union quickly became my go-to spot for delicious food, ciders & house-created cocktails. Union 613 is open and inviting to all...but Ivan won’t suffer fools gladly (so check any ‘attitude’ at the door). Chicken and cornbread? Yes, please!! The ‘Dirty burger’ is also one not to miss...and that weekend brunch! I go to Union for the food and stay for the love (and sass).

Just ordered takeout from here. When it arrived we phoned Union 613 to query the order because one of our vegan sandwiches appeared to contain a fried chicken breast. (It turns out they had no boneless chicken in the restaurant therefore it could only have been the seitan sandwich that we ordered). I eat a fair amount of fake meat and these days a lot of it tastes "kind of" like chicken, but this was the first time I've ever been convinced that it was. My apologies to the staff for suggesting that they got our order wrong. And my congratulations also because that was one hell of a sandwich.

Came here for brunch a while ago and loved it and said I had to try their dinner menu and I did recently and loved it. Amazing food, vibes, and customer service. Employees seem happy to be there, which makes the customer experience more enjoyable as well. Keep doing what you're doing, guys!

Came here last night for the first time. An awesome experience. The customer service here is the best I have seen for a very long time. The staff were so helpful and go out of their way. The food is great..fried chicken, grits and cornbread were big hits at our table.

Boyfriend and I decided to come here for my birthday, although it was very busy, the person at the front suggested we go to the speakeasy which we haven't been to before. The atmosphere was very surprising to us, certainly not what we were expected that evening. The drinks were amazing, food was fantastic (we had the shrimp and grits + fried chicken) and although the service was slow we did have a good time. Definitely recommend this spot!
