Peter’s Drive-In's Reviews and comments
Stopped in for lunch today. Ordered the double cheese burger, onion rings and a shake. Place has a ton of parking. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating areas too. I have previously used the drive thru and it's fast. The food was amazing. The shake perfect. Thick and yummy. Staff were very friendly. Restaurant was super clean.
Definitely recommend that you make a visit here
I wish that they had a location on the north side of the city
Was super happy to find that Edmonton has a Peter's Drive-in great burger shakes fries and more.
Great milkshakes, OK burgers - I have no idea why these fries are popular, aside from the portion size there was no redeeming qualities. I got a few that tasted like mold (likely the potatoes are not cleaned well enough, I saw one that had green coloring - meaning the potatoes used could be sprouting - which is toxic to humans), cold, and kinda oily. No seasoning at all either.
I'll get a milkshake again, but that's probably all I'd order, based on my first time here.
Staff was nice though.
It's great to have a staple of our travels through Calgary & more recently Red Deer here in Edmonton. We recently stopped in for a treat and it did not disappoint. Just a couple of milkshakes for us adults, some junior cones for our children, and an order of onion rings to share. Service was quick on a Sunday afternoon (~2PM). Everything was extremely delicious and we look forward to returning for a treat again.
Customer service is A+. Shake was good! But the burger was not so good!
This is a nice set up. The lines move quick and there is ample room for parking to eat and to wait in drive thru. The fries are quite good but the burgers are pretty average. The milkshakes are definitely worth trying and they are are huge. This is all about experience and nostalgia. A fun time at a drive in burger joint.
First visit, after hearing the hype for so long. Fast service and good food. The portions are too large for one person, so I wasted half my poutine, which makes me sad considering it was 30 bucks for two to eat fries and a burger.
We wanted to try this place for so long.... we decided to go a little early and when we arrived we were the only ones there. A couple ppl in the drive thru but no other customers inside. The decor was nice and clean. The colours looked good. Seating was very much what you would expect. We both ordered burgers and one fries and one onion rings to share. I wasn’t really impressed by the burger. The quantity of the side dishes was very good. Fries were crispy and onion rings were fresh. Overall it was good value but the flavours weren’t spectacular. We might go back just to try a milkshake.... maybe that’s the secret....
Good food retrostyle dinning very clean and tidy good portions of fries and onion rings.
Food was fresh made and made to order as well as delicious. Staff were friendly and got my order correct
I go for the milkshakes, just like the gasoline ally one my stop for the Pumpkin shake was awesome. Flavor was good but not as strong or present as I would expect.
It's Peters, what's not to love about it. Grew up in Calgary close by the original, now it's in Edmonton close to where I live now. Well worth the trip.
The food was good a nice change from the big burger restaurants. The prices are decent the service was good.
Burgers are good but the milkshakes are to DIE for. Up to 3 flavor choices can be added. Some are unique!
My fave is licorice, lime and orange. It's like tiger icecream 🤤
Portions in fries are bigger than you think. A single person that eats a decent amount likely only needs a small.
We tried the banana milkshake, the double cheese burger, family fries and the poutine. The shake was exceptionally delicious, so was the poutine. The fries and the double cheese burger were pretty good as well. Overall we had a nice experience eating here.
Good fries and really generous portion sizes. I like the old fashioned style and decor. Staff were helpful.
Calgary, Red Deer and Edmonton. Calgary being the top rated by myself. It was the first Peter's and has always been the best by far, even today. You get what you pay for and then some. I am a double cheese burger, medium fries and of course, a strawberry shake kinda guy. Burgers are huge and the helping of fries you get, is enough in itself to fill that void in your stomach. The strawberry shakes, among many other flavors will tempt anyone craving an awesome shake. Sometimes, the line up for your Peter's experience can be fair long but, the wait is well worth it. I highly and strongly recommend this place, regardless if it is in Calgary, Red Deer or Edmonton, make this a must stop on your journeys for great eats.
Visited the Edmonton location for the first time today. I had high hopes but was nervous seeing some of these reviews...will it be as good as I remember? Is it all nostalgia?
I was not disappointed. Very generous portion of onion rings and the double cheese burger was good. It is fast food and I will take this food over McD's any day. Oreo milkshake was amazing.
Will definitely go back.
Excellent burger place on Calgary Trail. My son had the cheeseburger, I had the double cheese and my wife the veggie burger. We all wolfed down our meals and my son proclaimed it to be the "best burger ever".
Peters’ is always busy and long line ups even in the one on the way to Calgary.
I tried Strawberry, banana, chocolate, Oreo, butterscotch, mango, cheesecake, blueberry milkshakes and there is a variety to choose and mix between others, all burgers all works are very tasty, I hope you have a faster service and fix these line ups so that we don’t wait for 45 mins to reach your window
I can’t help but answer my cravings when I’m driving by, that and the family. Mmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmm
Great same taste as calgary and red deer the wait is longer than it should be mostly due to the single lane on Calgary trail. Shakes were amazing and the burger was on point!
Milkshake was good but the burgers and fries were meeh..went there around almost 8.30 in the evening, no line up,only one car ahead of us. Waited for a bit and thinking that food was super fresh but not really. It was a bit sloppy. Not really sure if gonna go back again. Hopefully the other milkshakes are good..😅 btw, we ordered strawberry & coca mocha milkshakes.
Best milkshake ever!!! Go and try any
flavor.
So I lined up for 2 hours too just see if the hype is worth it.
I ordered Cheese burger with tomatoes and lettuce and Double cheese burger with tomatoes and lettuce and I got 2 double cheese burger with tomatoes, lettuce, onions and pickles. Plus they forgot to give us the small peach drink.
I would say probably it’s because of the business of it thats why but it is actually concerning too what if I had an allergy with onions and pickles thats why I didn’t ask for it.
Taste wise its great. Would recommend to go when it not that busy anymore.
Finally got the chance to try the Peters Drive In. I got the burger, single, fully loaded, which surprisingly comes with more than one patty. (I can’t imagine the appetite you would need to eat a double!)
My mother and sister shared the hot fudge sundae. (Ask for more napkins!!!) The cherry was a beautiful touch with nice soft serve and whipped cream.
Sadly the fries are only okay— a bit soggy. All the customer service was very polite and there’s more than enough space to park in the parking lot.
Always so good!! The burgers are messy but fantastic!! Great milkshakes too!
Got there just before close. Burgers were fresh and the fries were hot. Can't go wrong with Peter's on a warm summer evening. Very happy don't have to drive to Reddeer or Calgary when I need a fix.
The food tasted very well and looks very clean inside and polite staff . The only complaint we had was the milkshake order was not correct. I attached a photo. So my reccomendation would be to ensure you double check when accepting your order.
It was fine. The fries and the milkshake were pretty good, similar to the Calgary and Red Deer locations. The burger patties were disappointing - their advertising insists that they have never been frozen but they really seem to be. They are not terrible, but have that chewiness and dry texture of a frozen patty. The burgers are what I’d call “arena burgers” (simple burgers without fresh ingredients) and that’s the same as their other locations. The difference is that at the other locations the burgers taste much fresher and the toppings are applied with more care. Mine had ketchup smeared down the side and top, and mustard only on half of it.
It’s not a bad place to eat by any means, but there are other fast food places in the same price point and style that are much better.
Shakes are good, onion rings are good, prices are getting too high
Decent food. Burgers were okay. Onion rings were hot and delicious. Service was fast, but friendliness and quality were mediocre. Milkshake is huge and delicious. You’re allowed to mix up to three flavours in one shake and there’s a sizeable list to choose from.
Great food, fantastic shakes(I suggest chocolate, banana and strawberry for a banana split shake)
Lines were a bit long and slow though
Only had a strawberry shake and fries. Both good but didn't have strawberry bits in my shake. Have to try a burger before I give it 5 stars. Friendly fast service once you order. I loved the fries!
Make sure you ask for the toppings you want or you will get plain! I like fully loaded!
Tremendous hamburgers. The facility is clean and well run.
It is a fast food place that has decent buggers. Their fries are very big even the small fries. Started in Calgary and move up here recently. Very famous in Calgary. Also great shakes, ice cream and onion rings.
Good food and shakes. Little pricey.
Great drive thru burgers and onion rings and must have milkshakes! Big burgers. Onion rings and fries are large also! Share!
The red deer location is 5x better but the shakes are good
The burgers are not bad the family fries and onion rings are awesome, but the milkshakes some of the best you can get with more flavors then imagineable
This place exceeded my expectation. It was worth the long wait in line. Fed me and 4 bigger kids for $55. Also staff look happy to be there, and you get an air freshener!
I stopped in and was lucky to get one of the best tasting Burgers I've had in a very long time, a lot of options and a lot of meat in your burger it was a Patty and 1/2 in my single. I only give it four stars out of five because I haven't had the opportunity to try anything else but the burger but I definitely recommend you stop in and give it a chance
Awesome Food. Love Their Milkshakes. Very Clean . Great Staff. Worth The Money
The hot food is pretty basic. The burgers aren't great and look unappealing sitting in a pot of sauce. The onion rings are the typical Sysco onion rings everyone has.
The banana splits and shakes are great with lots of flavour options.
If you are looking for ice cream desserts this is a great place. Avoid the hot food and have supper somewhere else first.
I would go 3.5 stars if I could. So it was quite a long wait but we knew that going in...$50 for 3 cheeseburgers, fries and shakes was a bit steep but knew that going in too. I quite liked the fries...yes a bit soggy soon after but very tasty. The hamburger was a bit of a surprise as I appears to be just frozen patties. The sauce and everything made it good and a little different which is why I wanted to try...for something different. I expected more of a homemade burger like 5 Guys or Fatburger though so that was a bit disappointing. I figured from the reviews that the shakes would make up for everything but I actually found that a bit disappointing too...nothing very special at all. Their flavors set them apart but the actual milkshake is extremely common and not at all unique. I prefer McDonald's shakes. Red Robin also had much better shakes. So...I wanted different and that's what I got...it was good enough. For the money and the wait, might not go back real soon.
Awesome flavours and definitely a place worth visiting if your in the city. Over 400 milkshakes flavours to choose from. Came all the way from the north side and Every single bite was worth it. Perfect price for quality.
Always such great staff here. Buns were a bit stale today. Wish they had a smaller size for their milkshakes though. Otherwise great place
Had cheese burger, poutine and onion rings. The food was average at best. Likely will not return.
Excellent milkshakes. Loved the onion rings
What is all the fuss about? Why is this place so popular in Calgary. You can get a better burger at your kid's hockey game. Good fries and shake though.
Great old fashion fast food burgers
I definitely recommend the milkshakes, they are great! The burgers, however, are average and the gravy was very salty. I may go back for a milkshake, but not for the food. They quality was disappointing for the price.
I did not try the milkshakes but the burgers was not worth the hype! Pre-made floating in their signature bbq sauce. And the burgers were pretty thin!
I'd come back for the milkshakes but not for the burgers or hotdogs!
Onion rings were loves by the 10yo.
Veggie burger is made with curry relish which isn't advertised.
Hot dogs came with a tonne of sauce, cheese dog was the same with one small slice of cheese added.
Pineapple ice cream Sunday was delicious, milkshakes were a hit all round and HUGE!
Rings are awesome. Prices aren't bad compared to McDonald's, which, let's face it, doesn't compare.
Milkshakes are fantastic. You can feed easy 4 people with the small fries. The burgers are okay but are made up for with the sides.
I ordered liquorice root beer shake and I got one with blueberry in it! Not great, doable but not Worth the price of the screw up.
Milkshakes are thick and good quality. I typically stick with the classic strawberry, oreo, banana, or vanilla milkshakes which are all fantastic. Maybe on my next visit I will try the Pina colada milkshake. Burgers are ok, nothing special. But this is our go to place for milkshakes.
Fries and onion rings superb! Milkshakes thick and delicious, burgers boring wasn't crazy about the patty
It's a wonderful surprise to realize that they have opened their restaurant in Edmonton too. I loved going to their Calgary restaurant. This place is on Calgary Trail, Edmonton. They also have a drive through . There is ample free parking space available. Their Food is of very good quality and quantity . The price is reasonable. The Burgers, Milk shakes are very delicious and healthier. I would surely recommend this place. It's a great place to visit with family and friends.
Best milkshakes, rest of food is ok
Favourite fast food place in Edmonton, and the best milkshakes I've ever had
