HAWELI Indian Kitchen & Bar [ South Common ]'s Reviews and comments
We went there to celebrate our 13th anniversary...I must say that the food and staff was really good and humble..I don't really know the names but one of the staff name was Barbie..she was too gd with service 😊
Tried for the first time!
First off staff were masked and did ask for vaccination.
Second the atmosphere is very nice. The warm interior and various decorations were fun! There's even a little area with barrels! The booths are designed like train cars? They have luggage in the rafters!
The food.
We had chili fish of the Indo-Chinese section. Coconut rice, garlic naan, goat Rd curry and the spinach paneer. The chili fish uses basa( If I remember right), it was cooked well and was not chewy nor under cooked. It was also surprisingly not spicy.
The paneer was soft and the puree was more chunky then liquid. Gives a nice texture.
Coconut rice was cooked very nicely and had a really gentle taste.
The goat was very delicious and was just enough to feed two people comfortably. It was mildly spicy too, so easier for those who don't like spice.
Meal Came out to about 100 dollars for 5 dishes.
Servers came a few times to check on us at the beginning of meal.
Washrooms were also relatively clean.
Meal Came out to about 100 dollars
I would definitely come back.
We stopped at Hawaii South Common for a Friday night dinner date. The staff greeted us at the door promptly and said a table would be ready in a few minutes. We were seated at a private enclosed booth and our server informed us of the buffet was available. We had some questions on Indian beer and a bartender came over and answered our inquiry and recommended King Fisher beer from India. It was delicious. We had the buffet and all items on the buffet were absolutely delicious. I especially liked the butter chicken and Naan bread. The food here is so flavourful and freshly prepared. If you want an authentic Indian meal I would highly recommend you come here.
This is a nice restaurant overall. The food is good! I tried the buffet, with quite options to pick from!
The patio is great for summer days! Our server Shaina took care of meeting the customer satisfaction throughout our visit. A recommended place for Indian Dinning in Yeg!
If you’re a wine lover like me, you this place lack the selection. But, they’re other alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to pick on the menu.
I have a great experience here. Especially from Jass we got best customer service. Her polite behaviour and confidence creates a good environment for people .
I have come here several times, it never disappoints. Food is delicious and the staff are awesome. Atmosphere is nice, booths are quite private. Portions are generous, I always have some yummy leftovers to look forward too the next day. Prices are fair for what you get. I look forward to my next visit!
Great buffet, you can get a little bit of everything if you're not sure what you'll like. Everything was delicious!
We heard a lot about this restaurant and drove 1 hr to have dinner...it's a lot hyped up. We waited at the entrance for quite some time, no one greeted us. We were not served water or provided glasses till mid meal..we had to ask for the breads. The food was ok..plz have the chef's taste the food before serving..the custard was half cooked and you can taste the cornstarch. The glasses need checking..they were dirty..many were rusted..The silver lining was Deep's service which was exceptionally good.
Great hospitality and supportive staff . Great food . Thanks Pradeep N Anmol for great Hospitality
We started dining at Haweli in downtown back in 2017. We made a trip downtown once a month to enjoy the beautiful menu options.
Once the south side location came we made it a weekly routine. The buffet is always our go to as it has such an amazing selection of vegetarian and otherwise.
The staff is always so courteous, attentive, right down to when they see us walk in they know to put an order of garlic naan on for us! COVID has taken lots of business, but I am so glad to see haweli stand strong through these impossible times.
Highly recommend to anyone wishing to experience top notch food and service. Well worth the trip to south Edmonton! From a fello foodie 🙌🏼
I found the best Indian cuisine in Edmonton. Food taste is so good and authentic, service is also very good, all staff are friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend my friends and others.
I have been to other Indian food restaurants around this area and never want to go back their again, but Haweli is the best. I love their food and customer service. Now it has become one of our favorite restaurants where we like to go for special days or any day 😊👍
The staff were friendly and accommodating. When we got our food it was both delicious and well presented.
Next time I'm in Edmonton I'll be stopping in again
The last day before the patios close once again. Went for mother’s day dinner. We ordered paneer sizzles, Lamb roganjosh and Shahi Paneer along with garlic naans lacha paranthas and raita. The sizzler had good flavour, paneer pieces were soft and well marinated. Shahi paneer was good but lamb roganjosh was average. The breads were up to the mark. Raita was a bit too sour.
Overall it was an average meal but what made it above average was the service provided and friendliness of the servers.
The outdoor heaters couldn't keep up with the cool wind, so we finished our food fast and left.
Food was delicious, quality and taste was good, quick service, good hospitality. Nice ambience, one of the good place for Indian cuisine. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend anyone looking for fine dine in Edmonton.
My partner and I came in to a packed restaurant, the staff were gracious and apologetic for our having to wait for a table. Speedy service and well worth the wait, delicious! I wish I had taken photos! There was a bit of live music to go that extra mile of making it a great evening.
My family and I went there yesterday 3 adults and 3 small children. The staff were friendly and accommodating, a little bit slow with bringing the bill but I was extremely impressed with the effort they gave to give my child a chocolate milk even though it wasn't on the menu.
The food was absolutely delicious. I was very impressed with the flavors and the options. I would 100% recommend going here. My family and I will definitely be going back!
The food and people were amazing. Best indian food I ever had. Recommend to someone for sure.
Update: Sep 18, 2021
Had an amazing Buffet today with my family at Haveli South Common
5/5 stars amazing food just splendid!! Beautiful place, clean, food was tasteful and filling. Staff were kind and helpful, food arrived quite quickly, and was completely clean. Stunning place definitely recommend eating here if you’re looking to eat out inEdmonton!!

Best Indian restaurant in Edmonton. The service, staff, food, quality, prices ....hands down this is the best restaurant in town. After 1st order, I never went to any other restaurant for ordering Indian cuisine.
I highly recommend others to visit or order from this restaurant.
Amazing food!!
Awesome place with best Indian food I ever had in Canada. Loved the spicy onion naan♥️
This restaurant was my first time going here. The service was exceptional! They had the heaters cranked up for us to sit outside due to covid rules and it was very comfortable. The food was sooooooo good! Highly recommend!
I’ve been there last night and the food was really delicious. Also service is so good the girl named HARMAN is really frankly she treated us as a guest. It is highly recommended restaurant….
Awesome food and service was great. Jass was helping us . She was amazing, checking us every 10 minutes .
Fantastic Buffet with great atmosphere. We were very pleasantly surprised. We will be back!
Food is great but the service was a little slow and it took a while for us to simply get water. I get it, sometimes there are bad days and at times restaurants can be understaffed, therefore I would be willing to give a five star once the the service becomes faster! Other than that? Great food, great vibes, staff is friendly. A temporary 4/5 to what would be a default 5. Keep it up, improve and you'll only go far from there!
Clean and nice place. Very nice sitting area. Food is great specially buffet. Grat price with good quality food. However the only thing is high prices of drinks, that could be reduced😊.
When we arrived we had a wait, but the staff were friendly and very helpful. While we were waiting for a seat to become available one of the staff checked in on us a few times to make sure we were ok with the wait. It was a nice touch.
We had the buffet, which offered a good variety and all of it was delicious. Definitely recommend!
Good place for Indian food
Nice ambience nice and large bar area as well this was out first time here and we loved it. Food quality was very good and authentic Indian flavor was also a big plus.
Parking here is free and the place has good huge parking. Entrance was a little awkward as you have to walk to the front side to enter.
Overall good place and deserved a five star.
Great food, great ambiance on diwali! Barbie was a great hostess...very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely come again.
We went to this location with family .we all really enjoyed all of our food like ajwain fish pakora, chana Batur, daal bukhra and tandoori roti etc. Kids loved the fish pakora a lot. DEFINITELY will visit this place again.
We came in here not expecting to be this blown away by a place down at south common. But if I said the experience of our dining was nothing short of amazing, that’d still be an understatement as to how greatly we were served and fed. We were a family of four and ate very well compared to the budget. As for the food itself, incredibly tasty, my family doesn’t eat much spicy, but after seeing all the different curries and rices at this place we were marvelled, definitely recommend everyone to come check it out, and try their virgin mojito, it has exact amounts of all flavour components just in the right amounts. ;)
Such a cozy place to be at. Their Manchurian balls are my all time favorite. We ordered vegetable manchurian, fried rice and vegan momos. The food was great except for the vegan momos, they were just ok. The filling wasn't so good. I have tried other things at this place in the past and they never disappoint you.
This is one of my favorite places to be at. Apart from food I like their sitting area. They do have a few spots that give you some privacy. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and every wall is well lit with arts from all parts of India. At any restaurant as much as food matters. For me applausing what I see around, is talk of the table as well.
Writing about food. I love their thali option. They reintroduced it now. I had tried it few years ago and It was great back then. After watching lots of food videos I was always interested in thali. It gives you an idea of different foods they offer; very much like buffet.
Great food! Price is moderate to high. I always order butter chicken and rice and it tastes the same every time. We waited a bit for our food, to arrive, but it was delicious as always. Staff are polite and attentive.
I visited here for lunch recently. The service and atmosphere were good. They have a wide selection of food items. In terms of specifics, their garlic naan, chicken 65, tandoori chicken, and goat curry stood out the most.
Great food and especially good service by our server, Barbie. Ask for her!Would recommend buffalo cauliflower.
Today went to haweli the food was so nice and the girl named Harman was so polite. Her service was superb. Finally I will come back and see you Harman again.
Service by anmol and pardeep was great..the food is so delicious with a beautiful customer service. Great job guys, keep it up.
It’s a great experience.. The atmosphere is chill n cool n staff is also nice and friendly… bt there is a one cute n swt girl her name is barbie she is such a amazing girl she served us food she is Vry friendly…. The food is excellent I enjoyed the every single bite of the meal…. Thank u so much…. From Mrs. Bains
Delicious place to eat and really great price. Best butter chicken and naan I have ever tried! I’m normally not a fan of buffet style dining but this place tastes absolutely amazing
Food is ok. Ambience is super. 👌 but the veg biriyani in the buffet seems like one week old.service is good. Ankit, he did a fantastic service..
Staff is really sweet and kind especially anmol. His serving was really good. He ‘s a wonderful guy… the best restaurant to visit…… ask for anmol…
Ordered online, food is really good quality but it is a bit expensive for the amount you get. A bit bigger of portion sizes and it would be 5 stars for sure.
Over all though, best Palak paneer I've had in the city.
If you find this helpful, give it a thumbs up!
Customer WiFi:
Washrooms: yes
Power outlets: no
Pet friendly: no
Parking: free parking lot
Food/Drinks: I found the dishes were a little on the pricy side, however, this place does offer a iPlate option where you get a portion of your choice of curry from a list with a chick pea side and rice and naan. This is fantastic! All Indian restaurants should have this option! I hate having to order everything separate! Now they just need to extend this option to all their curries then I'm sold.
Flavor was very good. I got mine at medium spice and it was a good balance of heat but you still taste the flavor of the food. The fish was pretty good but a little under cooked. Just another minute and it would have been perfect cuz the batter coating was just a smidge soggy. The sauce was really nicely made thou, very fresh and zingy.
Service: very friendly staff however we did stand around at the entrance for quite a while until someone came and seated us. All the staff seemed to care if we were enjoying ourselves and the food.
Atmosphere: fairly cozy with some very nice decor that very well fits the theme of the restaurant.
If you found this helpful, let me know by leaving a thumbs up!
Excellent Service, lovely atmosphere, the buffet was absolutely outstanding !! I would highly recommend Haweli Indian Kitchen & Bar to anyone seeking authentic Indian cuisine. We will be back!
It just today we visit, this restaurant nice food nice atmosphere everything was perfect but big big shoutout for girl barbie you are just amazing sweet like the way you treats us no words thnx haweli and you barbie thnx👍🙏🏼👍🙏🏼
This place has real authentic Indian cuisine in Alberta by far! I'm definitely making this restaurant my go to.
We are visiting from California, my sisters took us out for dinner to this restaurant
Scrumptious food and great service by Barbie
If you want have a good time and good food, Haweli is a place ..Excellent..
We had Dinner at Haweli South Common this Evening
The Food and Service was Excellent !!
We enjoyed the Warm Hospitality by our Server Barbie 👍👍
Food was great. Excellent customer service. Bartender was very polite. Highly recommend. Must visit
Visited many times here... but not posted any review for this restaurant. I’ve read many negative comments for the staff and the food but its my personal experience from 6 months there is not any single complaints about anything for this haveli from my side. Every restaurant face many things like customer satisfaction, food quality but sometimes we as a customer also should understand them. A girl named Jass( the girl with bun) treated us and my family very professionally and in a friendly manner, food was also good there and we enjoyed a lot.
Thanks to the whole team.❤️
Absolutely amazing! Everything was great, jasdeep our server was excellent with helping us! I’d definitely suggest the lababdar chicken😍and tandoori fish👌
I gave specific instruction to my waiter, Ankit and I got exactly what I asked for and more. Personally, Haweli goes over and beyond with food, service and cleanliness.
Ankit was very helpful an his customer service was awesome. Great food and amazing place.
Came here for first time.. Staff is very polite and attentive... Food is also same as the service..Definetly come back again!!!
Great customer service...yummy food.. nice vibes...great music... our server manjot was great 👍 loved everything.
We had supper at Haweli on Saturday May 30th, 2020. We had a few beers first then ordered cocktail samosa's, beef vindaloo, lamb rogan josh, chicken biryani and garlic naan. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was amazing! Very flavoursome and the meat was excellent quality. Covid protocols were in place so I felt safe, there is plenty of space here. We reserved a table by telephone. Location is great for us as we can walk or take the bus. The menu caters for a quick snack/appies or full meal. I highly recommend. Obviously the buffet is not currently available due to Covid but I would recommend ordering from the menu - such high quality and excellent portion sizes. We will be back.
Barbie gave us a good service, really enjoyed having dinner over there.
Greatest Dining experience of my life, amazing staff, and excellent management. Will
not regret making Haweli the destination of choice for Indian fine dine, my personal favourites were the lababdar murgh and onion naan, for anyone looking for suggestions.
The chole bharura are sooooo good!
Delecious Food!! Awsome Food!! Definetely Come back Again!! Paneer butter masala is awsome!!! Thanks Haweli!!
Amazing food. I really impressed the way harmanpreet served us. She was very great full. Thank you harmanpreet 😊
Ee were served by a Girl named Harman. She was rocking at that night… Excellent customer service by her!!
This is the best Indian restaurant in Edmonton. Their Indo-chinese cuisine was way out of the world. It was a wonderful surprise. We came here for Mothers day celebration with my family. The service was good. The waiter Mr. Vishal was a very cheerful and helpful person. The ambiance is very different a mixture of Indian and Canadian. Really enjoyed our meal. Will surely recommend this place .
Edited after response from Restaurant:
Yes, the Manager did offer us 50% off our total bill which we had requested.
I really appreciate the response from the restaurant which goes on to show how much do they value their customers. They could have easily ignored my review, like many other restaurants but they took time to respond. I completely understand how tough it would have been for the servers to manage a huge crowd and their demands.
My review was based on the frustration that we could not enjoy the food and ambience that we were expecting as we had heard rave reviewed about the restaurant and drove all the way from Calgary. Hopefully next time!
Thank you!
Very very poor service.
We went it for à la carte dinner at around 6:30 PM on Sunday evening and were offered Buffet by the server. When we went to take the food, many of the starters were empty and we requested the server to refill them. 5 mins into the Buffet, a huge group (supposedly some wedding function) lined up to get food from the same Buffet. We had to wait in line 10-15 mins just to get our food. Most of the food items were empty by the time our turn came. Our entire group didn’t even eat properly and rather being apologetic the Manager shows attitude with the comment “We are always busy”. She offered us 10% off our bill for the food we didn’t even eat. And mind you the Buffet costs $27 per person.
Food was very average. Not recommended at all .
Good and friendly customer service. Tasty food and quick service. I would recommend visiting. Worth it.
Food was good except the Veg. Biryani.. Their menu is highly priced compared to other Indian restaurants in the area.. I gave them 5 star because of the taste of food..
The food never disappoints. The dining and staff are great. They have delicious Chole bhature. Must try!
I got to know about the Happy Hours at Haweli and price seems quite reasonable.
We have been there twice and both time my experience was not same.
First time, we went to grab some snacks during Happy Hours. We ordered Butter Chicken with Naan and Chicken Momos ( I am a big fan of momos). Food was served hot and fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every bite of my food. Service was good and the food was worth every penny.
Second time, I decided to bring my family here for Sunday brunch and this time Haweli disappointed us. First of all, They didn’t have enough high chairs for kids. Secondly, Dishes written on Buffet place card were different and when you open Chafing dishes, it was something else inside. This time food was not great as it was previously. The only thing i liked from all of the dishes was Mango custard (It is a must try here at Haweli). I found buffet price on higher side and food was not worth it.
Apart from food and price, Haweli reflects a perfect touch of traditional and pub ambience.
Overall Rating: 3/5
I would definitely go there again for Happy Hours but, I didn’t find their buffet worth.
This is a really nice restaurant. Pretty busy place on the weekend. Our server Jass was so good, so polite. 10/10 for her service. Haveli is always our first preference when it comes to Indian food.
Really good butter chicken. Hyderabadi chicken Biryani needed more spice to have the same authentic Indian taste, but good quantity. Dine-in prices are different from online n take out.
Love the food. By far, the best I have eaten in Canada. Ankit is a super fantastic guy and excellent customer service...The chef Bipin makes mouth watering food...Feeling short of words to explain this...Interiors are super classy...Guys, in Edmonton, please visit...Visitors from other province, do drop by...Enjoyed ....
