Al Salam Bakery & Restaurant's Reviews and comments
The food is always delicious and the service very friendly. The food is fresh, the pita always freshly baked. If you know Arabic food or if you are trying it for the first time you will not be disappointed.
Over all the place is nice. I would encourage a “facelift” specially in the heavily stained floor. I said this in the nicer way possible.
They deserve 5 for the food!
falafel wrap will do the job for cheap, while the platter will stuff you for around $20 - super, super nice staff here. yoikes. salt forward
First time ever going to Edmonton Alberta and we were recommended to eat at this restaurant.
All I have is positive feedback from this plate! Everything that we ordered was delicious and it was sent out to our table pretty quickly. We also ordered 2 drinks that compliments well with our dinner. We ordered 3 different meat in skewers and they were all so good. Cook well, it was not too dry but very tender.
ORDER THE GARLIC SAUCE. Sounds simple but their garlic sauce is amazing!!!
Good food and good restaurant
I love this place. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is relaxing, clean and has a lovely warm ambience. The food is fresh, tasty and delicious - the chicken shwarma wrap is the best I've ever had. We'll definitely be visiting Al Salam on my next trip to Edmonton.
Al Salam is a simplistic place with fresh food which is bursting with flavours. Hummus tzatziki donair meats and freshly baked pitas are to die for.
The price is right and portions are generous
They have been here for quite a few years but they have maintained their food quality and taste
Always a delight to be here Servrrs are amazing and courteous.
Great local Lebanese place family owned fresh and very tasty, healthy food. Mixed shawarma platter is a must! No rice extra salad if you want to avoid the carbs or save them for their freshly made in house pita.
I tried donair. It was delicious but was served a bit cooled. Would definitely try again
Dine in option available. Food is good. Typical middle eastern menu. Nothing extra ordinary. Just tried their Falafel sharwarma and it was alright.
We love this place, great food that won’t break the bank. Big portion sizes and everything is incredibly flavourful and fresh.
The grocery selection seems good, (only dry goods?) usually has what I’m looking for. Pita is excellent, I can recommend going there for your cooking at home needs and for a takeout meal.
Had heard great things about this restaurant and trust me it was an amazing experience! The pita bread was mouth melting. The salad was fresh. The chicken kabobs had been well done and juicy! The cheese used in the manakeesh was delicious and the crust was crunchy and fresh. Only downside was the rice, they should use long grain or basmati rice instead of the fat variety. They might have an option to exchange that but we didn't ask. Also, the precautions for covid were great, along with the lady who served us was really friendly! Will definitely come back!
Love their pita bread!! Always fresh!! Brought back a freezer full!! Thank you for the delicious manoosh for breakfast!!
Very fresh ingredients, large portions, juicy meat, falafel is cooked per order, freshly baked pita bread, served steamy hot, the staff were pleasant. One side is the restaurant and other side you can purchase small grocery items.
Great place for shwarma and pita along with middle eastern bakery. Shwarmas are really delicious.
We’ve been coming here for years now, and it’s a favourite of ours. The portions, flavours, and prices are always great. The platter is super generous, it could feed 1-2 people.
For the best pita bread in Edmonton try Al Salam Bakery pita bread. I have not visited the restaurant and cannot comment on their other products, but if they are as good as the pita they are likely very good. I always buy and enjoy the Al Salam pita bread . You can purchase it at stores all over the city.
I got lunch take out today... Beef kabab platter. The pita was good and the garlic sauce sooo good. The rice reminded me of minute rice. I prefer long grain. My kebabs were under cooked so I had some pieces that were cooked rare. I fed the kababs to my dogs. I would have preferred them fully cooked but my dogs loved them. I think today they were very busy. They had a number of large take out orders so my timing wasn't great at noon. I bought a pack of pita. I think this bakery hands down has the best pita in the city. It's always been great. The service as always is excellent.
Delicious schwarma!! Turkish coffee was good, also!
Fresh pita daily. Best pita in town! We love eating here and getting other snacks too!
I visited here for lunch. Overall decent atmosphere and service. I tried the Chicken Shawarma Plate. The overall flavour of everything (chicken, rice, pita, dipping, lettuce, etc.) was good and they tasted well together. The chicken was a bit dry and the ratio of the food on the plate could be a bit better though
A personal favorite, Mixed Shawarma platter. Never fails to please.
Ive beem going to Al Salam for takeout for years and their food has always been good and continues to be good. My low rating is because the person behind the till was not wearing a mask (masks are mandatory indoors as of this review) when processing my transaction. To make matters worse, he processed the groceries for the customer in front of me who was not wearing a mask. It was disappointing to see. Btw the person making the food (Ahmed) was wearing the mask and so was the lady getting the order packed. Please wear masks indoors.
Excellent fresh pita/Naan breads and delicious hummus and garlic dips !! They have full Lebanese food menu as well. One of the best places in Edmonton for good Lebanese/Arabic food.
Consistently great food. The shawarma and ajeen are so fresh. I highly recommend!
Best Shawarma Platters in Edmonton. Good Portions and freshly baked pita bread
theses guys are no joke. they make a meaaaan chicken shawarma very fresh far from dry
Very friendly staff. You can buy middle eastern grocery here. The location is perfect on 34 ave and Calgary trail intersection. We ordered four items: zater ajeen/pie, cheese ajeen/pie, chicken ajeen/pie and cheese pizza. The chicken ajeen and cheese pizza were fresh & yummy. The zater and cheese ajeen/pie were not fresh and were just heated...they do not taste good. They put black olive with the serving which I liked a lot. The seating area was very good with middle eastern atmosphere. I gave it 3 stars comparing it with other authentic middle eastern places in both Calgary & Edmonton.
This place is amazing, the pitas are so fresh and so tasty and the food is amazing. The staff is so nice and it's such a nice spot.
This is a very welcoming restaurant that always serves delicious food to go. I can't wait to dine in here again someday, but for now, I'm enjoying the take out with the super fresh pitas and Naan. The garlic sauce is out of this world good. Try the chicken platters, they're the best.
It is very very hard to find a place that remotely replicates my favourite food joints back in Ontario. Having lived on 3 different continents and travelled so much I seem to be more particular on how good my food tastes and the service I recieve whenever I visit somewhere new.
This was a rare find for me here in Edmonton. I have a favourite restaurant called Barakats in Ontario....I have been known to drive 2 hrs just to purchase a meal there, and this weekend I found a place that is similar. Al Salam Bakery & Restaurant had shown me a little piece of home. For my first time visiting this place I was greeted with patience; given great suggestions on how to sample their menu and by the time I explored their grocery store my food was ready for take out.
There is an option to eat in as well but I chose to eat in the comfort of my home this time. Wajih was one of the individuals who served me that day. He was able to help me make decisions between brands and suggested beverages when I was feeling torn. The baklava is on point!!
I do find that the prices are a bit more than I pay in Ontario but overall the prices of everything seem inflated in Edmonton.
I look forward to making Al Salam one of my regular stops when I am in town. P.S. The filling in the spinach pita is definitely on point!
What a delightful first visit to Al Salam! Such friendly service and fresh, delicious food! The atmosphere felt like we were dining in a family restaurant, and we felt very comfortable and welcome.
We started with the Akawie Man'Oushe, and had we not wanted to try other menu items, we would have ordered more! For anyone who loves pizza (which is everyone, right?), it's a must try! We also had the mixed beef/chicken/kafta plate. We couldn't decide which was our favorite meat as they were all so richly spiced and full of flavour! The accompanying pita, of course, couldn't have been more fresh - warm, soft, and beautifully pillowed in the basket. Perfect for mopping up the dips!
Also to note, we took a za'atar pita home to go, and after heating it up in the oven the next day, again, we noticed immediately the freshness of the za'atar sprinkled on top. Good for you guys! We are so fortunate to have places like this around. We will definitely be back!
Clean, fast service, and Nice speciality. The pita is amazing and fresh.
If you smoke herbal shisha it's a good place, 4 stars because no much variation of flavors.
The quality of their food has always been consistent. Their sitting area beside isles are very distracting. That’s one turn off for me. The servers are very down to earth and kind. Awesome experience at Al Salam
Food and service are excellent! Highly recommend getting the pita in the clear bag and a hummus to go!!
Over the last 6 years and all the schwarma places I've tried this is the absolute best. Don't know about any thing other than the schwarma so don't quote me on anything else.
Food is consistently delicious! Been going here for over 10 years and the food is perfect every time. The service is great. All around great business. Loyal customer right here.
Falafels and rice with pita a little hummus ,super yummy
Fresh ingredients for sure. Delicious shawarma
Favorite food ever! The chicken platter is the best food ever.
I bring new people here to show them what they are missing.
Good small restaurant. I had the mixed plate that come with beef chicken along with rice vegetable and pita on the side. The portion was very generous, it was good overall.
Good food but not consistent ...the guy at the counter (one with spectacles)has wrong attitude
They have one of the best home bread and hammous/egg plant dip in Edmonton. A must try!
The best platter and shawarma in Edmonton!
Kindly staff and delicious Mediterranean food. The fresh bread and pizza crust is awesome.
Great food, great service. Love their pizzas, shawarma, sandwiches!
Taste is good Mr Cook os very great man
it's excellent place clean and the food is great delicious . The pitas bread is so delicious and always fresh and the service is fast .
Great food, great place for staff or group gatherings. Amazing prices a must try! Great service
Love the food but presentation and packaging of platters is so sloppy. They put everything on top of everything. I like to mix my food myself but it comes already mixed 😏
Not sure what I had - since my husband ordered it for me and surprised me. But everything was delicious
Love their chicken wraps. Always incredible fast service. All staff I saw were wearing masks properly.
Fresh pita !! Its the best and the garlic dipping sauce AMAZING had to go back and get more to take home after my lunch !! Highly recommend 👌
Good food although the value could be better. Service was good, and food was tasty. Their Man'Oushes are amazing!
Food is usually great, service is nice and the atmosphere is nice. Good portions, and all around tasty.
Best bread in the city. Store has higher prices in comparison with other halal stores. Lack of customer service.
Delicious shawarma and good customer service
We had dinner there this evening, there were four of us and we were all extremely impressed. The staff was amazing and extremely friendly. As for the food it was out of this world, so delicious and we could not even eat our portions because they were so large.
The place was so clean it was quite something. We would highly recommend this to anyone.
So many friends recommended Al Salam so we had to go try it and we could not have had a better experience! The food is 10/10 and the customer service was above and beyond. A genuine family owned business with a high quality bakery and restaurant. I personally live deep north Edmonton & still love going south side for the food & bread!
Thank you Kal and family for always being great hosts!
My favorite restaurant in Edmonton.
The Mixed Shawarma Platter is my go-to.
Their pita is the best I've had anywhere, especially when it is fresh out of the oven.
Their garlic sauce is a bit lighter than other places, but I count that as a good thing. Other garlic sauces I've tried tend to be quite rich and heavy, while Al Salam's feels like a perfect complement to the food.
I would eat here any time, any meal, any day.
This is one of the best Arabic restaurants in the city. We always go there for lunch. They have so many different options for vegetarian food ,my kids especially loves their Zatar and spinach. They are very reasonable.
The owner is very friendly. I highly recommend this place for Arabic food !
The beef shawarma is excellent.
Great authentic Middle Eastern food
Yummy hummus and pita bread, friendly service and good prices!
Good every time I go. Kal is the man, always making it proper the whole team everyone is friendly awesome food great service
Best falafel in the city by a mile!
I f#%*ing love this place. There is a wonderful woman that has served me every time I went. She is kind. I love going here during lunch.
Their shawarmas and platters are delicious. Their large size would be considered regular size elsewhere though.
Best Mediterranean food in South Edmonton
Amazing place and delicious food 100%
This is a great place to get your Lebanese food. They have a restaurant and grocery . They make the pita fresh every morning. Its a definite must if you like fresh pita. Plus you can see them actually making them if you are lucky.
Very good food and great service
Ordered through skip twice and the food was prepared and delivered quickly both times. The chicken shawarma platter was good but the hummus and garlic sauces should be in separate containers. They spilled on to the salad and chicken/rice during delivery, made quite a mess. Otherwise the chicken shawarma was delicious!
Donair was good
Excellent Service and Ambience. Food was delicious and freshly cooked. Very friendly staff as well
We really enjoyed the great food and fantastic service!
Very good food. We usually get platters of shawarma chicken or beef with rice, salad, pickles, salad, hummus and garlic dip. Fresh, steaming pitas are served in a basket alongside the main dishes. Options include eating in, ordering takeout at the counter, and/or shopping the small store with Middle Eastern items.
Great staff always happy to see and welcome you, and the food, omg always 110%. been eating there for a long time and never had a bad experience.
Maybe I am crazy or maybe others hold the same opinion...this place is hands down my absolute favorite shawarma. The garlic sauce alone is the reason I won't go anywhere else. But they freshly make your pita when you order so really....who else can compete. But the salad and meat are also perfection. The staff are always friendly. I go once a month when I need to find my happy place and they have never failed me.
