I wanted to purchase some plants specifically for a sunny location in my home. The gardener who assisted me was very helpful and pleasant. She provided me with recommendations based on my needs as well as care tips for each. The cashiers were also accommodating and pleasant. The store had a great selection of Christmas ornaments and indoor plants. Prices were reasonable and plants all.looked healthy.

Always like going here and seeing what they have in stock. They always seem to have the largest stock and varity in town. I recommend a visit if you are missing the green and colors in your life!

I have been a customer of Golden Acre for probably over fifty years, as a new gardener with an empty lot. The first location was a seasonal, outdoor location and what was then deep south McLeod Trail. Although the current location is now a long drive for us, this garden centre cannot be beat. There's a huge collecton of healthy plants and all the supplies you could ever need. But whatever happened to Costumer Service? This Christmas I planned to send a Golden Acre Gift Card to my brother. After spending sometime searching to website for a link to order online, I finally wrote an email to [email protected] - two week later no one has got back to me. I've called called Customer Servicewhere where they know nothing but put me through to Online Sales. Nobody picked up so I left a message - no response. Called Customer Service again and a very helpfull woman asked multiple people around her but still no help. She put me through to Online sales again, where again no one picked, so I left another firmer message Marilyn Wood My problem was resolved. I am giving Golden Acre a Five Star Review!

Great place had everything I needed. A little pricy but the plant's I wanted were there. If you looking for perennial's that grow in shade or shade & sun. They have a great selection,also they can be planted in planet's. Also they have a wide variety of pretty much ever plant's,tree's,& berry bushes.

I love this place. I drive from Black Diamond almost every time I have a few days off. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I go mostly for the house plants, of which they have an amazing selection. My wife loves all the perennials in the spring and summer ( like a warehouse of perennials trees shrubs etc. ) Huge selection of liquid and dry ferts, tonnes of soil and soil substitutes, mulch, rocks, pots, trays, seeds, tools, lights, grow tents...you name it and they have it! 100% grade from this Happy Plant Person! You have the most amazing staff, they are always so kind to us and our little girls, making us feel like family. It never fails, everytime we come someone stops to chat with our 5yr old - which she LOVES - being made to feel special and important during what otherwise might be a less than exciting shopping trip for her lol (I love picking plants- she will come around eventually). The inventory of plants & decor throughout each season is so well curated & the staff is so knowledgeable. I especially love getting our NS Balsam Fir each year- it makes me feel more at home having moved here from NS 6yrs ago. Thank you for all you do!

This place has so much choices from cactus, perennial and annual plants. Good to shop for perennial/ annual plants but not recommended for succulent hunting specially if your looking for variated type ones, staffs are great they really know lots of the plant. They recommend good choices for your plant needs.

I could just go here to relax amongst the house plants. They have a very good selection of well taken care of plants, as well as everything you need to start a home garden experience. They also have a cute gift shop where I can spend hours dreaming about how I want to decorate my kitchen, and home. Come here during Christmas, they have simply beautiful tree decorations!

Sure, some of the plants are a little pricey. But honestly everything is well taken care for and the staff is fairly knowledge of all. Even when I ask a question that leaves them stumped, they can find someone that does have an answer or a guess. Every once in awhile I could find some real gems to add to my tanks (I have a lot of terrariums/paludariums/vivariums)

I love this store. I have always enjoyed shopping here. Today I left annoyed at the staff member that rang me out. She asked me if I was a senior. I am not.. Please tell your staff that it is rude to be asked that.. Put a sign on the counter to indicate seniors day. If a senior misses that then fine.. they lose out. Now pardon me while I cry in my wine at my aging beauty...

Always love coming to Golden Acre. While it is quite far, it’s well worth the trip as the selection and service here is simply unmatched. Be careful though- it’s the type of place you may accidentally spend an extra few hundred bucks at! 😂

First of first, their associates are usually smiling and very helpful. However, it doesn’t look all of them are knowledgeable. - Beautiful plants, but poor selection and super EXPENSIVE. It is better to say all items are OVERPRICED. You can find most of their product in other stores for reasonable prices and same quality. Check other stores prices before shopping here! - The quality of their plants isn't necessary as good as they think. - Huge parking lot and there are always lots of spaces for parking

Golden Acre Home and Garden Center had been serving Calgary for many, many years. They are always very well stocked with a wide selection of plants, gardening tools, fertilizers, plant pots, outdoor home decor, the list goes on. It is always a pleasure to come here and browse through their inventory. The staff are also very knowledgeable and friendly.

I cant get over how massive this store actually is...it just kept going. I would highly recommend this store if you have plant needs as they had almost everything including stones and patio furniture. It has 4 stars from because while amazing as everything was nothing happened or occurred that would warrant 5. Either way come here for plant stuff.

I absolutely love this place! My aunt brought me here last year and highly recommended it. Since then, I have gone back a number of times on my own and always have a great experience. They have a wide assortment, very knowledgeable and pleasant staff, and a generally wonderful atmosphere. My latest experience is what pushed me to actually write a review, though. A few days ago, my fiancé and I stopped by to pick up a plant, pot, and gloves for part of our wedding ceremony. Unfortunately, in all of the chaos I somehow lost one pair of gloves. We returned yesterday to find that there were no more gloves in the size and colour that I needed. We asked customer service if they would mind checking their stock, and when they found out that it was for our wedding, they went above and beyond! Not only did they find the exact right colour and size, they also gave them to us for free. It may have only been $5 to the company but it means so much more to us. They really know how to care for people. We will definitely be coming back for all of our gardening needs, like some beautiful maples!

Service here is amazing! I had to ask for help 3 times and each time received better than best! And great plants, indoor, outdoor, annuals, perennials. Plus all the fertilizer, compost, soil, pots, seeds, bulbs, trellises, etc you could ask for. Even with long line ups at the registers, I was out the door within minutes. Parking is great... Even during planting season. And the indoor display is so pretty! Lovely displays of so many items to make your home and garden gorgeous!

Really wish I knew about this place before! Staff are knowledgeable, extremely helpful and prices reasonable. Also you can purchase a warranty for trees and shrubs. I bought from a different nursery last year, got very little help in regards to how to plant my trees and 4 out of 9 of them are dying. I will definitely make this place my go to for all of my future planting.

Not bad but I personally find they have too many succulents and cactuses compared to other indoor plants. I also find that when I buy plants here if I need a pot for it I go elsewhere. Especially for larger sized pots they have really no selection of them. Still a good store & definitely good for those getting into gardening. I personally come here for pesticides & fertilizer more than plants.

A vast garden centre with a equally large variety of perennials. Of interest, they have the Hewitt's double meadow rue showing as a zone 5 perennial. I can attest that it is one of my favourites and it comes back year after year at Shaganappi Estates. One star withheld because of the pricing. I would love to see more promotions etc.

Great selection, good price. They tend to carry some things (herb varietals for example) that are harder to find at some other garden centres in Calgary. Their prices are also very competitive, and probably the best on average since Sunnyside Greenhouses closed down.

No discount on the same amount of product in smaller quantities. Are you going the same route as sunnyside or???

The selection for indoor hanging tropicals was ok, they were out of hanging jug varieties of nepenthes but they had a small ground type. The prices were an issue for basket stuffers and common annuals. A go to for centre pieces and stand out items. Staff is great and were helpful in recommending how to find either a stand in similar to what was wanted or trying the wish list. Will be back.

My go-to since my beloved Sunnyside has gone away. Excellent selection and well-organized space. It gets really, really crazy busy here and I highly recommend coming on a weeknight if you can with the pandemic capacity restrictions and the smaller parking lot. I drive by here every Saturday morning, and on a nice weekend, the place is already getting packed by 9:00 and bursting at the seams by 11:00. When we came here the third? weekend of May 2021, a lot of stock was obviously picked through since it was beautiful outside the weekend before. The key here is come early-ish in the year (not so early that they haven't gotten the stock in yet) though they still keep a decent selection throughout the season. If you want the good stuff though, you'll have to come before May long weekend, I think. All of our plants from Golden Acre have done great, with the exception of one plant that I'm a bit peeved about - I purchased a succulent, only to find that from some online ID help that I was sold the terminal blooms of the graptopetalum succulent I thought I was buying, and not the actual rosette itself. Now who would do that?! This means that once the blooms die, that's it for my plant. It won't keep growing like a typical succulent. I was thrilled to find some beautiful types of peony most recently - stuff you don't typically find at garden centers in Canadian Tire, for example.

Was really surprised how large it was. The new Sunnyside replacement perhaps! Plants were in spectacular condition and selection was good, especially for the end of August. Lots of other stuff like landscaping materials in bulk as well as patio furniture and a really large selection of greenhouse and hydroponic systems
